    Tiguan - Wind Buffeting

Do any of you Tig owners experience excessive wind buffeting with just the drivers window down?

After picking up our Tig today it was so bad our kids in the back were complaining that it was hurting their ears....I have never experienced this before with just the one window open and i can see this as being an issue as i drive the majority of the time with the drivers window down like this.

I have already emailed the dealer with my concerns as this doesn't seem normal to me.

Can't say that I've noticed that in mine.

But hardly have my windows down, as where I live ... I'd be spat on at every traffic light, when the auto wipe scares the **** out of the deaf and persistent window cleaner that can't take "No" for an answer.

But see if having the sunroof left on tilt or front passenger window down a bit or all the way, helps?

Worse case, you can buy some tinted wind deflectors off eBay for the Tig.

Every car i have ever been in has had the wind buffeting with just 1 window open.
It is less noticeable in my Tig than all of the other cars though.
Can always just crack the window on teh opposite side open to solve this.

Re the wind buffeting,it was the first thing I noticed after I picked up my Tig.I also like to drive with the driver's window down, but the buffeting was so bad that I wound it up and turned on the aircon.Yes it was to the point of actually drumming in my ears.I have experienced this before in a few other cars I have owned in the past, but I reckon the Tig is really bad for it. I have alleviated this problem more or less by fitting the weather shields on both front doors. It seems to have fixed the problem so far.I havent bothered to put the weather shields on the 2 rear doors,a bit of overkill I feel[and butt ugly] If you want to try the shields John Hughes[in Welshpool] had them at the best price.

    Thanks for the replies guys,

I think the weather shields are going to be the only way to go...

philsan, do you mind if i ask how much the oem weathershields cost? Also what do they look like? are the front one's pretty ugly also?

Unfortunately it is a Tiguan trait .... I like to drive with my window open but when you go over 70km/h it suffers from excessive buffeting .... .... nothing the dealer can do I'm afraid.

And it is far worse than the Golfs and Polo's .... in the GTI I could drive up to 140km/h with no real buffeting but on the Tig anything above 70km/h becomes unpleasant.

Also not something you normally notice on a test drive as you either stay below 80 or drive with the windows closed....

I too am a 'window down' guy. I'd call it a reverberating air pressure phenomenon! Have done a bit of experimenting & best for me is 50% down on passenger side, 25% down drivers side - around town, & up a bit from there as speed increases.

I noticed it this morning when returning the car to the dealer for reverse sensors.

it is very loud, especially if just a rear window is down

The weather shields were $121.40 from John Hughes spares in Welshpool rd,other dealers wanted considerably more. They come in a set of 4 but I only fitted the 2 front ones.Of slimline design and not obtrusive when fitted to windows. However a word of caution, despite me following the directions to the letter and waiting longer than the prescibed time b4 driving the car,I have noticed that already the double sided adhesive is lifting off on the door handle side of the window.Somehow I have now got to try and remove the crap adhesive and replace it with top quality speed rated 3m adhesive tape.never stops does it! Also really jacked off at the mo.went out yesterday to get some isopropyl alcohol to remove the old tape and when i get home I noticed a gauge in the paint on the driver side mudguard up high. How it happened who knows?? Bloody hell 2 weeks old and less that 1000k's and already I have cosmetic damage.probably caused by a rock thrown up on that crap Gnangara rd.Geez
