The yeti is going to be a good deal if you can get over the hideous looking front end and the lack of front clearance.

The tiguan has plenty of boot space if you know how to manage it.
The rear seats slide forward and they also fold down in a 60/40 split which has allowed me to carry a lawnmower, a 42" tv and 2 other passengers in the car with no worries.

Having said that i wouldn't wait any more than 4 months for a car.
And if the Tiguan wasn't an option i would have gone a Octavia RS

Like I have mentioned before, I fitted a pram, a dishwasher, two toddlers, my wife and I into the Tig. It was tight but much better than expected.

no offence to skoda owners, but VW v. scoda - most people have never heard of them (until NRMA gave the octavia a deserved award last year), so resale alone is going to be a big factor that will make some people think twice. We know the Tig is holding value, and the X1 will probably hold value OK too (at least better than the bigger / dearer beemers anyway).

    Thanks,

I didnt realize that the dealership was closed due to Easter. Checked my email and it was today!
Infact I just got back and guess what.. wife's happy!! We test drove 125tsi DSG, metallic black with leather and whoaa a big sun roof! It had some interesting functions and addons.
We test-drove for good 30-40mins and came back to the dealership at around 9am. Spent 2 hrs discussing pricing with the dealer.. It's a hard process, but the dealer won't budge for a cent
He said since it's a new model that hasnt arrived they can't do any better. At the most he could do was throw in free mats if I placed the order today.
He wasn't able to tell us much about the new model whether blutooth and mdi is part of the new one and any other additions except the facelift.
He did advise that there is a 5 month wait.
We haven't placed our order yet..

I was just saying that's what I'd have, not for hifi-tig to do the same . And we do pay less in the first place for what are essentially the same cars (especially when you compare spec to spec) so oh well.

I ordered a 147 TSI last week after I had my wife test the 125 TSI and the 2009 TDI. We went to three dealers. One dealer had no tigs in the yard that hadnt been sold, just a used 2009 TDI. One dealer just had a couple of 125s and one had 4 125s and one TDI.

This is probably why the dealers are not discounting.

My wife wasn't happy with the TDIs acceleration which I think was because the 2009 TDI lacks the 7 speed dsg.

She was happy with the 125s power and acceleration so I ordered the 147 because after I optioned the TDI (my pick) the cost was more expensive than getting the 147 with my options (less needed as many options standard on 147)

The only discount I got from the dealer was paint glaze and tint plus they have promised a loan car if my Tiguan doesn't arrive before my current lease finishes. The only $$ discount was a fleet discount of about $4,500

I am expecting delivery around December, so 5 month wait may be a bit too optimistic.

I ordered the 2012 model with bluetoth and mdi, one dealer told me that it may come standard in e new model, so I would expect a price adjustment if this the case. According to the German vw site, the new Tiguan can reverse park as well as parallel park, way cool!

I'd hold out a bit before committing to either at the moment. BMW just announced at the New York Motor show that their direct injection 2.0 Turbo petrol is now available. X1 and Z4 in 28i models by Q4 2011 ...... new 3 series to have it in Q1 2012 in 2 models just like Tiguans, 140+- kw and 180kw.

180kw/354NM BEFORE tuning makes this the performance small SUV to buy. May tempt me back to BMW soon .....

    ha, dilemma.
    thoughts?
hmm, this is crouching into sports car territory... One could be questioning the purpose, are you buying an SUV expecting SUV capabilities or are you after a roadster performance car.

iF the relationship was reversed, for example, one wanted a 200kw sports car but wish list begun to include off road technology, towing capacity rating of xxxxkg.

Somewhere a car manufacture would need to draw a line.... however they continue to surprise us (consumers) with tentalising fast bits features on car that is not expected to have the fast bits. like: SUV.

    anyway. just some observsations.

    Hi there..
That's a good deal! Discount of $4500.. was that on the RRP of car or the drive-away price? Also, can you please advise me the dealer you signed up ur deal with.. may pay them a visit!
