The newer TSI gets a few more horses extracted than the old ones. More intake breathing is one of the factors from what I understand!
Oettinger is $2495 - INCLUDING the 12 month engine / drivetrain & breakdown warranty.
We can do them in Brisbane now & the duplicate programming gear should be at our dealers interstate in the following weeks / months.
We can also do the 147KW motor - I do not have the power figures for that one yet but I understand they will be very similar (~ 178kw / 360nm)
Don't forget all these figures are the typical conservative German DIN rated figures - not SAE!

So 125kw Tiguan (manual) should perform similar to an A3 Quattro with the chip. Similar weight, similar traction.
Quicker than a Golf GTI off the line due to better traction, slightly slower in rolling runs due more weight .....
With nice wheels & the sport bodykit it will be a very nice Q car indeed. Quick but not obviously so. I like that.![]()

Does the Oettinger chip have the same multiple settings feature as the APR? e.g. "Stock", "Valet" and "Performance" settings?
Should you expect any accelerated wear on parts with this power gain?

For what I've been told, no, the Oettinger remap does not come with the multiple setting option. But then I don't think I'd be changing them around anyway. I can imagine getting into a situation where I go to do something only to get into trouble because I was in the wrong mode, like the low power mode. I could see it causing me all sorts of grief!
Has APR released their version yet? As far as I know, only the Oettinger one is available at the moment.
As far as I know the APR is a couple of months away. I'd definitely get the multi tune option though, at least that way the dealer will never know whats in there.

They show some having been done by APR BUT I don't know (being a diesel-head here) if it's the same motor.

I spoke to Guy about 2 weeks ago now. APR will have a number of techs in the country this month and they will do testing & calibration work on any VAG model not seen in the USA.
Currently the USA has the 147kw Tiguan only so work will definately be done on the 125kw version this month.
Expect releases of ECU upgrades in the months to follow for a host of VAG Oz cars. I am waiting in particular for info on the 125kw Tiguan and the new 155kw Audi motors to make my purchase decision.
Also remember that the Tiguan drivetrain is pretty much what a S3 has as standard, so modifying it will place no more stresses on it than what VAG is prepared to do to other models in its range from the factory.Modify away you wont break it.
For similar power curves look at the APR and Oettinger websites and in particular the Golf GTI's curves, it will give you an indication of what to expect.
