    Tiguan Tuning Starts !

    Just noticed on APR USA's site that the ECU tuning for the Tiguan is now available. About 190kw with the chip only .....

    http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/ecu...guan20tsi.html

    APR Oz probably will be making the news available locally soon. Need Guy to confirm if the 125kw TSI and 147kw TSI actually has the same engine and both chip to 190kw. If so the 125kw version would have to be a bargain .....

    EDIT .... checked VW USA and seems the 147kw 2.0TSI Tiguan is the only available model there.

    Does anyone know if the 147Kw turbo petrol in the Tiguan is the old (cam belt) engine or the new (EA888 timing chain) version ?

    Correct Sharkie, only the 147kw for the US - Jury is still out regarding if its the exact same engine or not.......

    IIRC (according to on a thread on vortex) the yanks are getting two versions of the new (cam chain) 2.0 TFSI :

    CCTA the "normal" emissions version (euro 5 or whatever they are up to these days), and

    CFBA the PZEV (partial zero emissions version ? ) for California and a few other US states.

    Our engine codes that we have worked on so far are:

    CAWA = 125kw
    CAWB = 147kw

    It looks like the intercooler is different (and some of the plumbing) & the rear exhaust is also different, looks like the intake is the same & most base parts are the same though!

    Engine code on 147KW should be CCTA not CAWB.

    As far as most of the actual differences between the 2 configuarations.
    The engine is virtually identical, the Head are the same, the cams are the same, and intercooler is the same.
    them pistons and rods are the same, the turbo is the same, only a few little hoses etc are revised, nothing to impact on power.

    Its a good thing the TSI engine have the same size rod bolts as the pirelli and s3 motors of a 9mm rods bolt instead on 8mm in normal GTI's.

    only notable differences is the downpipe is slightly different, the center section exhaust is the same, and a slight difference in rear section.
    The ecu's are different.

    For modders, the final power potential would be very similar.

    I have on order my Tiguan 125KW and will see what i end up doing with that.

    On the cards is Giac tune, and possibly VF TSI turbo kit.

    I suggest you actually look at the engine code instead of guessing - we have another 147kw Tiguan here today & guess what - its CAWB same as the others we have worked on.

    This is now the fifth one we have tuned & they all have the same engine code. I think you are using US information - not applicable to the AUS cars.

    How many Tiguan's have you actually programmed or pulled apart?

    We hope to have the first Tiguan with a Stage 3 on it in the coming months: Just like this baby!

    that's the angle I took, especially given the 147 is not available in a manual! I'll be devastated if I'm stuck with a 125kw though.
