    Tiguan Side Mouldings

I thought that this site might be of interest to anyone who is considering fitting door protection mouldings to their Tiguans . They can be ordered prepainted to suit body colour.

I'll post some pictures when mine turn up. Should be any day now since they cleared customs on the 4th Feb, ordered them on the 18th Jan. I got them painted the same colour as the car.

    Cheers

I was charged US$196.49 for the side mouldings which included painting and delivery worked out to AU$216.37 + $6.38 international trans fee. It comes via USPS (United States Postal Service) and you get a tracking ID to see what the status is.

The paint code can be found on the first page of the service booklet under Vehicle Data on line 3 (stuck on page). Thanks to Maverick for pointing that one out.

My code is LC9X for deep black pearl and it's an MY10.

Love to see the pictures once its up as I think this is really handy to protect against the majority of idiots opening their doors into your car.

Finally got round to installing the door moulding from spoilerdepot. They arrived at my house on the 8th Feb.

Cleaned the door area and did a dry run to see how they would look before putting the strips on. Only thing that caught me out was that the adhesive backing is in two separate parts, so I forgot to take off the backing for the pointy section on the first strip, but managed to get it off with some tweezers - thank god.

I'm happy with the gap between the strips. Any closer and I would have trouble opening the rear doors. Note that the ends of the strips don't line up with the profile of the tig doors as they are not straight up and down. Maybe one of the guys in the UK can confirm if the factory fitted ones are the same.

Overall I'm happy with the outcome. I had to clean up some of the edges of the strips (some residue from the painting) but the quality of the strips and the paint look good. I guess I'll see how they go over the next few months/years.

Yes - I do know I need to wash it.

    Looks great!

My concern was that it would give the car a cheap look... But it blends in really well and makes the Tig look a bit more sporty I reckon.

I ordered mine last week. Ever since I got the Tig I've been parking between pillars/walls or expensive Euro cars!
