Question Tiguan petrol type - can it take 95 now?

I had read some topics before, and it looks like Tiguan petrol engine using 98 Ron, just came cross this link:

--- Volkswagen drops to 95RON petrol

    http://www.caradvice.com.au/38849/ne...-ron-unleaded/

It suggests Tiguan now can take 95 instead of 98?

Does anyone know if it is ok to use 95 for Tiguan?

    Best to use 98Ron fuel.

95 doesn't burn as efficiently so any saving you may make at the pump ($1 per fill up) will no be seen as you will fill up more often and may do damage to your engine.

I will only be running BP Ultimate in mine when i need to fill up as i don't want to ruin the car i spent nearly 40k on for a $1 saving that will never be realised.

I certainly wouldn't run 95, not worth the risk for the miniscule financial return IMO.

What about Shell V-power? Any good compare to BP?

    Thanks.

I can say that in my last car, the BP ultimate was for a certainty better than the Shell V-Power. Dont know why, or if it was all in my mind, but it seemed to run quieter and smoother through the power delivery.

In the tig, i often use the Caltex Vortex 98 (as it is my local garage mainly). Whenever I can though, I fill with 98 BP, and it seeems great. Never gone back to the shell product to try...

I have found V-Power to be more responsive than BP-Ultimate when fresh. It does seem to lose its edge over time if not used .... If I know its going to be in the car for a while I use BP, if I expect it to be all used within a day or so I use Shell.

V-Power (if fresh) produces the best dyno results I've found as well ......

Wow , I didn't know there were so many petrol conisseurs around. Now to sort out the wheat from the chaff can i suggest a a blindfolded test firstly to determine the brand and then the vintage

    Thanks Sharkie,

I have BP close to where I leave, will go for BP next time. I have been using Shell because of the Coles docket. I guess I just have to use it on my other car

Btw, what about Caltex and Mobile? Any good?

    Regards.
