Are there any other affordable intakes out there apart from the carbonio? I actually like the carbonio, but the price is simply too much for me. I've seen GarryPs intake, but can't find anymore reliable information on it. Shame about the wintake..... that would have been my first choice!!!

Any intake suitable for a MK6 GTI will fit the Tiguan. I'm sure there are plenty out there .... search for GTI instead of Tiguan ....

Sure thing sharkie, but wouldn't they come with the wrong bracket/size? I would think that the GTI engine bay has a different shape/size then the tiguan?

You can't know that, but I mentioned here in another tiguan thread, that I don't know any R /GTI owners in my area to compare the two vehicles...

MK6 GTI and Tiguan has an identical engine layout and all intake parts are interchangeable. I ran a Carbonio on my Tiguan and it was the same one you fit to a MK6 GTI ......

R has the older engine and uses a different intake (same as MK5 GTI)

Sure tnghing GTI/Tiguan have the same layout and it's something completely different to the Tiguan. Might have to see what fits or which seller is happy to figure sth out with me (GTI intake w/Tiguan Braket) etc.

Thanks for the clarification there Sharkie, let's see what I can come up with.

Just found this on vortex this morning:

The Tiguan has a slightly larger "bolt pattern" than the GTI for the Carbonio. Because of that one of these is needed:

yeah. I saw that on the apr website aswell. So I guess it would be the same with other intakes...

Had a look at a MK6 GTI today, and my apologies, they are not exactly similar. Confused the RS Skoda's engine bay with the GTI.

Not a huge difference, but enough to make a straight fit of a GTI specific intake a bit of work.

    My bad ....

No big deal. Would be to sweet otherwise. The only real difference I see would be obviously the bracket and the length of the intake to the bracket. The intake length could be a little DIY, just using some silicone pipe, braket could be a pita if you don't have the right tools.

Edit. And the MAF of course. Might be straight swap job. Maybe not....

I found an interesting statement from Arin@APR on vortex. According to him the stage2 piping is not really necessary! I think I have to reconsider my intake choice and get a carbonio from ECS....BFYB???!?

    It's quite the opposite.

There was originally no plan to produce the back section as it only cost more for basically looks and only a hair more power. Still, people wanted it always so it's now available.

So, rather than waste your money we have given you the option to purchase the rear part separately if you really want it.
Edit: seems to be known for a while now....

Just spotted another alternative on these guys website,
    www.tarmacengineering.com.au
Seems well designed & finished and very reasonably priced, BUT whether it will fit our Tig's is another question. Probably MAF sensor location and front mounting would be different?!
