This covers both TSI and TDI Tiguans. See respective sections below.
Tiguan TSI information - All TSI versions (125 & 147 & upcoming 155TSI) share the EA888 engine used in the MK6 Golf GTI. Thus most engine modifications for the GTI works on the Tiguans.
TSI Tiguan Stage 1 - ECU Upgrade only
ECU only upgrade typically delivers around 190kw/400NM. In excess of 350NM is available from 1700r/min to 5000r/min. If this is the only thing you ever do to your Tiguan it is worth it. It changes the nature of the Tig, from a nice handling small SUV that has acceptable performance to a real contender.
Standard manual TSIs will do 0-100 in 8.2s and with Stg 1 in about 6.3s on average. Tiptronics are about a second slower in both cases and DSGs about 0.5s quicker provided you use launch control.
There are a number of vendors out there doing ECU upgrades. Research them for the best fit for you.

TSI Tiguan Stage 1+ - ECU Upgrade + CAI (cold air intake)
This upgrade typically delivers around 195kw/410NM. You can gain anything between 2-5kw with this depending on the brand you go for. Again, there are a number of CAI brands out there.

TSI Tiguan Stage 2 - ECU Upgrade + CAI (cold air intake) + Dowpipe / exhaust
This upgrade typically delivers around 205kw/420NM. The DP on its own delivers a solid 7kw at the wheels. At present there is only APR doing a 3"DP for Tiguans anywhere in the world. An exhaust shop may be able to make you a custom one. The turbo spools up 700r/min sooner than stock and thus delivers you max power and torque sooner as well.
APR Downpipe: http://www.goapr.com.au/products/apr..._downpipe.html
TSI Tiguan Stage 2+ - ECU Upgrade + CAI (cold air intake) + Dowpipe / exhaust + FMIC
This front mount intercooler upgrade normally delivers little extra power. 2-5kw atw at most. However it cools down the intake air temps much more efficiently than the stock FMIC and will keep you making power long after the stock cars are feeling the effects of heatsoak. Heatsoak can rob you by as much as 20kw atw after sitting in traffic for 15mins.
There are a number of options here, an Audi S3 will deliver 30% extra cooling and is an easy fit. Most of the major tuners have GTI FMIC upgrades available and most will fit with a bit of work (mostly piping) to the Tiguans. Research them for the best fit for you.

TSI Tiguan Stage 3 - ECU Upgrade + CAI (cold air intake) + Dowpipe / exhaust + FMIC + Turbo Upgrade
Now we are talking serious power.
K04 Turbo upgrades.
The K04 is the turbo from the Golf R/Audi S3. It is a standard VW OEM product and larger than the standard K03 turbo. At present APR and AWE Tuning are the only ones doing this upgrade. It is worth 250kw/450NM. This will allow your Tiguan to do 0-100km/h in less than 5s .....![]()
APR: http://www.goapr.com.au/products/tur...si_k04_au.html
AWE Tuning: http://www.awe-tuning.com/products/v...turbo-kit.html
Garret Turbo upgrades.
This is a much larger turbo than the K03 (stock) and K04 and delivers enourmous power. A number of tuners are doing big turbo upgrades for the EA888 engines. Expect 290kw/500NM from these upgrades.

NOTE: Please bear in mind that you may mix and match some of the components for the different stages with great effect.
Tiguan TDI information - The 2.0TDI used in the Tiguans in Australia all have the 103kw/320NM version. This engine is used widely in other VW models and as such many of their tuning options are available to Tiguan owners.
TDI Tiguan Stage 1 - ECU Upgrade only
ECU only upgrade typically delivers around 125kw/370NM. On a manual TDI this will typically improve 0-100km/h times from 10.4s to around 9.6s.
There are a number of vendors out there doing TDI ECU upgrades. Research them for the best fit for you. Be aware that proper ECU tuning is different from Piggy Back tuning.

TDI Tiguan Further Stages
At present I have no knowledge of further tuning on the Tiguans. Certainly some of the Golf TDI further stages may apply. Do your own research if this is what you want to do.
