    So how do you find your Superchips tune off the line? Sounds like the APR will get going quicker with better bottom end performance.

    Yes Superchips is the budget tune - just trying to work out if I'd be disappointed/want more if I got it.

    Main problem I have with my stock 125TSI is that it sometimes gets bogged when you really need to get going quickly (like pulling out into traffic). Nothing worse than having someone up your ass before you get to 2,000 revs and the turbo cuts in. Unless you drive around in sports mode and ignore the down shifts coming into traffic lights.

    Does this get solved with a Superchips tune or am I best off biting the bullet and going the whole hog with APR?

    I think I'll go and get the 6 hour demo... but then I don't think I'd ever be happy with second best (which is I guess why they do it).

    Tigger73, as you have DSG, I reckon you need the APR map:

    As I've mentioned, I haven't had the Superchip, but I have had the APR and the Oettinger maps in the Tig. I had the Oet first and wasn't impressed for my needs. The APR was night and day in comparison -BUT it depends how you drive, where you drive and what you want. The Oet, which I suspect sounds very similar in charactersitic to the Superchip, provided substaintial improvement at high revs and high speed. But it had no where near (IMO) the linear torque spread that the APR map gave. SO driving with the Oet (or Superchip if it is similar) would be great if I lived in Germany and drove on the autobahns all day, and/or didn't want anyone to know that I had it chipped when driving around town or even punting at lower revs. Whereas the APR gave tremendous drivability down low with unbelievable acceleration off the line (but then also keeping it slotted in 3 or 4th gear at 3500 - 5000rpm would keep you well and truely in jail!).


    Without trying to sound like a tosser, the little 2litre Tig with an APR map made mince meat out of nearly every other standard 'passanger' car- off the line and on the highway - for me, it's all about drivabilty. The Tig with APR map and H&R sus was an absolute blast to drive, and yes, I do miss it

    Goodspeed also do a 3" DP for the Tiguan 4mo;

    Tiguan 3" down pipe released from Goodspeed.

    Yeah I know... otherwise I'll pay for the tune twice.

    Looking at the torque and power curves for Superchips it is more about middle/top end and agree that with my DSG it's not really going to solve the problem of getting off the line.

    So just go and get an APR tune and beg for forgiveness later???

    Hi AussieTig. I suspect mine has the encryption like yours, but Superchips Oceania agent checked with their UK HO and they reckon it should work! They offer a 7 day "no quibbles" satisfaction guarantee so I guess can't hurt to try it
    On another topic, how did you get your accelerator sports pedal to fit? Just got me a set of ABT Sportline pedals, and brake no probs but can't work out how to get accelerator apart (appears to be all one piece, fixed to floor where it pivots?) Footrest not a chance though, so wondering whether Tig different to MKVI Golf (that these supposedly suit)?!

    Anyone tried Bayside Performance in Brisbane yet?

    A thread in this forum about a Golf GTI Mk6 with Bosch MED17.5 tuned by them. Do we share the same ECU type?

    It appears that the tuner can tune the ECU w/o taking the ECU out and a Dyno to prove it. Only a single program though.

    James is a great guy and very knowledgable.

    Would gladly reccomend their work.

    What's with the advertising goldarn-it! I know the forum needs it to cover running costs, but my poor old beast has enough trouble with all the pop-ups and flashy bits as it is

    Well that's what they fcuking told me too (based on my engine code)!

    But the bluefin stopped reading two-thirds the way in and then was asked to send the incomplete map to UK HO for diagnostic, then 15mins they confirmed the bad news that they couldn't crack it.

    Was offered the option of pulling ECU out to load, but not my cup of tea and it totally defeats the purpose of going with SuperChips in the first place. So got my money back!

    Anyhow ... do let us know Tiggy1, if you do go down that route and it does work on yours.



    Yep accelerator pedal is a real bitch to take off!

    Unfortunately very hard to explain without pics of the pedal removed!

    But nevertheless, I'll try and going off my vague memory:

    If you look carefully at the very front end of the pedal (black plastic base closest to you) and lift it up a bit (and use a torch), there is actually two cut outs at the base. That's where you insert a long flat thin flat head screwdriver all the way in and try and probe or knockout the rubber clasp that's holding the pedal to the long centre bolt/stem that goes all the way down to the floor.

    You have to insert in a good 10-15cm before you hit the centre bolt/stem.


    EDIT: Just realised ABT pedals are the "drill them onto the existing pedal" type right?
    If that's the case, then just drill and screw over the existing pedal.
    In my case, it was a complete replace of the entire accelerator pedal unit with a mk5 GTI one.
