    Is there a downside ? - anything worse ?
Too early to say if theres a downside but not expecting any serious. APR only do what VW already do to this engine in the Polo GTI. Maybe worse fuel consumption for a bit but then it will probably get better.

Don't get me wrong; the 118 is a good engine. One up with no luggage it performs well. But in comparison to the tuned 4.0 turbo Territory I was driving for the last 3 years it was lacking a little something.
I had always intended to do the tune on my Tig. But if you are in any doubt and are worried about warranty or the sky falling in then don't do it. Put your money under the mattress instead.
But if you want a smile every time you surprise a WRX or EVO or GTI when you keep up with them ( notice I didn't say beat.... The Tig is still a heavy SUV with a middle aged man driving it LOL), then go for it and be damned with kids inheritance

Why have you chosen your username?
    What would he do?

I'm with Drift on this. Didn't notice a big difference straight away & was a little disappointed. But, yeah, after 20 or so km's the motor took on a whole new personality & i was 'well happy'!
Today is the 1 year anniversary for my tune! No issues, just happy motoring. Twice to the dealers, reverted back to stock mode for that. No issues, just a service & another visit for the wastegate rod clip.

Good to know! I think Mona vale to innerwest is over 40 km, so I'll be stretching her legs from the half way mark hahaha

OK so my tig now has APR, thanks to the good bloke at Mona Vale.

    First impressions after about 40km:
There is very slight increase in power low in the rev range while in D or S, but not 'chalk and cheese'. It builds more rapidly above 3500rpm, as show in the torque graph. What I do feel is it's reving lower in 6th gear to get to 100km, so likely to result in lower fuel use.

Near the end of my 40km, put it in 'manual' mode, 2nd, to 3rd, to 4th in the 3500-5000 range is WEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. It was fun
(mind you I have tiptronic, so gear change isn't as quick as DSG, so can only imagine what I'm missing)

Is it worth the sale price? I'll let you know in a couple of weeks once the program had time to settle in

    Hi kaotickelly,
I may have missed it but what engine do you have? 118, 132 or 155?
I suspect the initial thing is to do with the engine size / power. 118 to 150+ is a massive leap so the initial smile is also good.

As you say, the smile @ 3500rpm is undeniable

    K.O.

Did they have to take the ECU out of the vehicle or was it done in vehicle.

    Cheers

It was a bench tune, so yes, they had to remove it (although I didn't see this happen, I went for a coffee).
