Of course you will be. But really, lets not even think about comparing GTI's to Tigs! I mean, what purpose would that serve?

    1. no, you wont. once the bug bites, you're bitten.

    2. contact volkspower in burwood - they do countless APR upgrades, and dean is a fun (colorful) guy to talk to.

they know their ****..... my polo has been going to them since its 15k service, and it will continue to do so until it dies at 600K MILES or something.... (diesel)

my ex-car was a land rover discovery, but i love my nimble little polo....

are you telling me that i can have a decent "fast" with nice ride/cruise height, good acceleration, good cornering, awesome dynamics, and all at that kinda price?

im now getting thoughts into my head......

Apart from the Golf brigade choking on their soup as reality sets in, you mean ......

For interest sake, the following comparison as to krracing's time .....

Wheels Oct 2010 comparison quartermile times ...... test performed in the dry at 13 degrees and at Sydney Dragway .....

    Evo X MR Manual $74885 ..... 14.02s
    STI Manual $66990 .... 13.98s
    R 3dr Manual $51790 .... 14.6s

    Tiguan 125TSI Manual about $40000 .... 14.02s

And given the Tiguans power:weight disadvantage this is an excellent performance ..... for a performance hatch do you really need to look elsewhere ? .... Up to a 100km/h , which in reality is all you need in and around the city, the Tig would be quicker than any of these ......

You're only getting away with that 'cause the R boys don't visit the Tig forum
Although i'm not sure exactly where i sit as the Tig 147 is the wife's car and i've ordered an R for myself

The performance of the Tig is great and i'm toying with the idea of the APR stg 1, but for me personally, i don't like the seating position that much, or the up high stance of the Tig. I prefer to have my bum much closer to the road. But when i'm driving my R around town, i'll keep a cautious eye out for any stealthy tigs that might surprise me at the lights.

Good points there Glennb, some people will not go for Tiguan since it is in small SUV category, no matter what.

I believe in that; there are real life figures and there are real real life figures.

Thanks for the tip, Burwood is my neighbouring suburb! Will be in touch with them soon.

I pulled up next to a bloke in a GTI this morning with a neat little "APR TUNED" chrome decal on the hatch, tried to catch his attention, but he was rocking out to some loud music... Then he was GONE!!

I think it comes down to personal preference. Personally when I compare my cars, I compare them when they're completely stock because with the 'bang for buck' factor in mind I can easily buy a $10,000 skyline and spend a little amount of money, doing DIY jobs and get the car down the quarter at 12 seconds.

I know you speak very highly of the 147TSI Tiguan and I no doubt agree with you that it's a good car and from what you get for the price it's brilliant but I think it's a bit hard to compare them with EVO X/STI and R as they are totally focused in a different market. For example, though the Aurion has 200kw and can run low 14s stock, I wouldn't be comparing them to the SS/XR8 or XR6T mainly because it's a FWD.
