So, any detriment to just runnng the the stage 1 tune with the downpipe? (& CAI?) Have been running this for around 9 months now, car drives perfectly & no CEL notifications in the cluster. Just haven't been able to get the stage 2 software loaded for 1 reason or another...

I don't think there's any problem, though often this will throw a CEL. You just won't get the full benefit from it until you have it re-tuned.
All the other bits you can bolt on/off (CAI, cat-back exhaust, intercooler) without upsetting the ECU, however the DP is the only thing that requires a new file. That is unless you change turbos of course!

Manual 2.0TSI APR Stg1 tested with a VBOX was 5.7s (ECU only)
Manual 2.0TSI APR Stg2 tested with a VBOX was 5.5s (Carbonio and 3" APR Downpipe)
Power difference between the 2 were about 10kw/20NM

back to my original post, getting the DSG tune but not a Stage 1. The most frustrating thing is the h u g e pause when trying to accelerate. As has been noted here it is very dangerous in it's current state.

Had a day off yesterday so thought i would 'bight the bullet' & go & get the Stage 2 file loaded... I thought "i wonder if APR have a sale coming up", as they usually do 10% off twice a year. So i went onto their website & noticed stage 2 is no longer listed for the Tiguan! I then called up the national distributor to find that it is still available (as it is in their GTI section), but the price has more or less doubled!
I'm fairly certain it was around $260 earlier in the year, but is now $395 plus an hour's labour ! (they used to waive the labour charge if you bought a down-pipe from them, apparently) Think i will just be satisfied with the Stage 1 file... Still happy with it!![]()
