    Tiguan or Passat wagen?

I'm going to have a baby soon. So I wanna have a larger car. I like the look of tiguan and the storage space is just enough for my use. However, Passat wagen offers more storage space and it looks good too. Hmmmm.....Any thought?

Drive them both first. I'm sure that Tig owners with kids will give you their opinions. There is also thread or two about Tiguan boot, just in case you didn't read it. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f97/...ads-47755.html and scroll it to "Buying a Tiguan and you have a question" there is a few threads you may be interested in.

Tiguan is more compact and easier to park at shopping centers than Passat.

What car do you drive at the moment?

    I agree with transporter.
You should drive both and see how they feel and if you would be comfortable with them.
Also take along the stuff you would normally have with you for child needs/day trips so you can see how it all fits.
I feel the Tig should be good enough for my needs as you can slide the rear bench forwArd to give more room and you can remove the rear parcel shelf.

Also, have you considered the Skoda octavia wagon?

Thx~~I'll have a good look at the link. I'm driving a very old lancer at the moment and it is getting worse. That's why I wanna upgrade my car. The wife is driving a VW MK5 Golf TDI. We love the Golf. May test drive both cars this weekend

Obviously biased but with kids and all the stuff you have to carry around with them, we were going to buy a Tig until we saw the boot space in them. Was a shame because my wife really had her heart set on a Tig - ended up with a CR-V instead.

R36 just swallows up everything pretty much. Done a couple of trips with the Passat and it took portacot, Mountain Buggy Pram, High chair (all stuff thats quite bulky) plus everything else you need and I still could see out the rear window.

That excatly what i felt after I saw the boot of the tiguan. But one thing I really really like the tiguan is the Panoramic Sunroof which you can't find in a Passat at the moment. Maybe I should wait until the new passat comes out

Perhaps have a look at the Skoda Superb. Elegance spec comes with will the trimmings including standard Sat Nav, Xenons, park assist, and you can option a pano roof.

The Golf Wagon also has the option of a pano roof, but it is made in Mexico. Which can be a deal breaker even if it is a VW product.

I almost bought one of these at the beginning of the year. The problem is Mexico, the price for what you get, and the Golf Wagon has no knee airbag (the Golf does) and the reverse camera is not the badgeflip with moving guidelines (the Golf can get) and is really a Mark V hybrid. You cant get nice things like Xenons on the gold wagon and the options are pricey. I think the Octavia is a much better buy, and for more money the RS and Superb easily blow it away.

I agree that the Passat or Octavia wagon would be the best choice...(only my opinion of course). If you get it with the park sensors, not even the camera, then it is a breeze to throw into parking spots. I reckon it is actually easier to park than the tig due to the location of the front wheels etc..

I have to take two bites at parking my tig in the carport each time, yet I can throw the passat in first time every time...
