VW don't consider it a servicable part as they don't actually have a listing for it.
There is nothing stopping you from acquiring the part yourself, and replacing it.
Hi,
My MY10 Tiguan is booked for 60,000km service. I am not clear about Haldex filter. Does it need to be replaced?
From the old dealership Service Schedule it appears that both Haldex oil and filter need to be renewed on cars up to and including MY09.
For MY10 onwards it only shows oil renew every 3 years. It does not mention the filter.
The book I got with my car does not make any difference between MY09 and MY10 and says the filter should be renewed.
When I booked the car in, the guy said that on my model car the filter is not serviced. It is a major job to replace it.
Is this correct?

VW have a 120,000km service schedule. You get to 120,000km and then you start the same service schedule over to 240,000km.
If it doesn't come up for replacement in 120,000km then it never finds its way onto the schedule.
You change your engine filter when you change the oil so I'm not sure why they don't change the Haldex filter when they change the Haldex oil. As Umai says just go and get the filter and replace it or request that it gets done when the oil is changed.

There's no listing in the VW parts catalog for the filter in later Haldex couplings.
You can buy them through Haldex agents overseas.
60/120 is the same service. 180K is the same again, but with an air filter as well.

Thanks to all for your replies.
The dealership says it is a major job to replace the filter. And obviously would cost accordingly.
The question is - is the Haldex unit on MY10 onwards of different design than the previous models, and does not need regular filter replacement? Is the dealer telling the truth?
I don't particularly want to spend money if it is not necessary. My car has never been driven on an unsealed road. And I don't fiddle with cars any more. 50 years ago it was easy, not now.
I can try to ask VW, but my past experience communicating with them is not good.
It shouldn't be that expensive if you do the filter at the same time as changing the oil.
The oil is like liquid Gold - about $80 a bottle for 500ml from memory.
I'd get a quote from the dealer and then get price from a reputable VW independent. Sounds like the dealer is just trying to fob you off. You'll probably find the independent will be cheaper and may even know more about it (or at least take more of an interest)![]()

Thanks tigger73. I am not an enthusiast, and would not spend money unless it is necessary.
I found out that the Service Schedule my dealership uses is not their own, but it is a VW Australia document. So that removes the doubt I had.
I also found this on the internet -
Vehicles with Haldex all-wheel-drive systems (manufactured by Haldex but installed in various vehicles under different names) use specific fluid and filters designed for those AWD systems. On many vehicles with Haldex AWD, the fluid and filter are supposed to be changed periodically (as often as every two years), though some recent models come with a “lifetime” filter that doesn’t need periodic changing.
So that closes this issue for me.
