Tiguan Modifications - Ideas and Advice

    Hi guys,
Not sure if the right forum, but I was looking at a K&N cold air intake, or maybe an APR one, but APR is nearly double the price.
Is it worth the effort to get a CAI without a tune? I'm not sure as this is my first turbo car

Also looking at a boost controller from GFB, but can it be installed without a tune, and will there be any issues with increasing boost but keeping the rest of the car standard?

Thanks very much in advance for any comments/direction

The restriction point on the Tiguan is the downpipe.
My suggestion if you had to break it down into individual mods would be stage 1, stage 2 (downpipe), intake, suspension.
    I don't have a boost controller so i can't comment on that.

Also, i find stage 2 is enough for my needs on the road but a few members have done a K04 turbo upgrade (Same turbo as the Golf R and Audi S3) and that bumps it up to Stage 3 levels.

APR are having a sale now. I would look in to a tune before CAI

Dont waste money on the boost controller. Just get a proper tune. You can fit an intake afterwards. Consider going straight to a downpipe and tune though

I would suggest you to contact APR to get a stage 1 ECU trial and see how you go. Stage 1 to me is already a big improvement (but don't expect it to be neck-breaking fast) If you don't like it just switch it back. CAI without stage 1 tune is pointless....APR is having a Christmas sale so you might want to upgrade them all at once?

    I don't have a boost controller so I can't comment on that...

Thanks for the replies everyone, might look into some tuning in this case!

I'm also looking at doing some cosmetic work, such as alloy pedals, R8 oil cap and maybe an autopolar HUD input (dont't know much about it)

Another question I had was is anyone makes coloured piping for the engine bay (for dress up purposes), and where would I buy a roof spoiler from?
