another question guys, if you choose agreed value - did you put your purchase price (inc discount) or non discount price?
thanks![]()
I've not seen 4 year replacement insurance before, only 1 or 2 years.
But considering the vehicle will still be worth $20-$30k after 4 years, its unlikely that the vehicle will ever be considered unrepairable, so I'm doubting how much of a benefit that would be in practice. I suppose it would also apply to unrecovered after theft also.

CGU are three years and you know about the 4 year one now.
There have been heaps of written off Golfs going through the auction houses and the same will apply to the Tiguan. It doesn't take much of an impact for the insurance company to write off a car.But considering the vehicle will still be worth $20-$30k after 4 years, its unlikely that the vehicle will ever be considered unrepairable, so I'm doubting how much of a benefit that would be in practice. One example is a GTI that had bonnet and minor front end damage, car was written off.
Poor quality of repairs to a GTI that had minor front wheel damage from sliding off the road at low speed into a gutter. Car was written off after multiple repair attempts, work was so stuffed up it was cheaper than to write the car off after 4 months of repairs.
Water damage will see a car written off and there have been quite a few of these both salt and mostly fresh water.

If you're going for agreed value always go with the highest value you can get away with. Remember you need the replacement value if you claim and you may not be able to get that discounted price again should the car be written off.
When I added the mods to my policy I included all the labor charges etc. If you need to claim and you want to do the same mods to your replacement car this will, naturally, have to be paid all over again and there's no sense in you being out of pocket.

$680 with a multi-policy discount with NRMA.
It does depend where the car is garaged, some suburbs attract higher premiums.
I hear ya John, had mine for almost 7 months now and 10000kms, time flies when you're dubbin![]()

Forever blowing bubbles.
ours $751 with windscreen cover and 500 excess.
This with with AAMI and rating 1 for life.
paid no extra for the APR chip mod.
From what I can see here that looks reasonable, but even allowing for the windscreen cover some others looked significantly cheaper, could be the postcode (know ours isn't one of the cheapest), but good to know, I'll have to checkout some of the other insurers mentioned here come renewal time.
