Was paying 650 in Melbourne, but it's just gone up to 900 (CommInsure). New postcode & nominated my 25yo daughter on the policy as another occasional driver. I can pay monthly with no additional admin costs. I have a windscreen option, which doesn't cover the side or rear, which i found out the hard way...

I don't think i would be forthcoming about running with a tune, if that were the case...

My main concern is being "uninsured" in the event of a major accident. If the insurance company finds out you have mods and not declared them they may weasel out of a large claim. I just don't want to put myself in that position.

Plus Shannons will insure the car for supervised driver training.

We have just insured out new 2013 Tiguan for $715 with RACV, with my wife being the only listed driver (under 25).
I am also under 25, but only for a few months, and (touch wood) should get away with not listing myself.

We do have other policies with RACV so that does help bring the cost down.

Does the ECU re-map count as a mod?

So far I have tried just car, nrma, youi, bing, racq, progressive.

Progressive came in cheapest at $819 with 600 excess and 450 u25 excess.

racq came in most expensive at 1253 with 600 and 250 excess.

We have a weener, most expensive = Suncorp @ $2200. If I move my location from Chinchilla to Dalby (1hr away), it drops to $1400... wtf..

Real insurance said they couldn't insure me for some reason, just looking at AI now, will post up a summary when I choose.

My misses car is with AAMI $1100 a year, choice of repairer, oem parts. Its a new car, so if they write it off, within the first 2 years they will replace the car with a new one, same options & whatnot.
She too has the hire car option. The deal was if you choose an excess of $500&something the hire car cost was only covered by them for the first 2 days, $625 & the hire car cost is covered by them for the total length of time you have the hire car.
She had to make a claim not too far back.
Drops off car at repairer & was given a cab voucher to get her to the hire car place to pick it up. I thought that was pretty neat.

My tig's insurance is $735 per year, under a fleet policy deal I get from work.

I tried QBE and was told that I was denied insurance because I'm 29 and the Tiguan has a turbo.

EDIT: It was QBE not AMII

Dont have an accident then as signing a document with false information could even end you up in jail as its fraudulent.

You have signed it saying that all information provided is true when obviously its not.

Posting the fact on here is also unwise as how do you think they find these things out.

    Hi Hillbilly,

I have confirmed that I am still allowed to drive the car, even if I am under 25 and not a listed driver, I just pay a greater excess in the event of a claim, so there is no fraud taking place here.

    Ended up going for Progressive.

$948 for an agreed value of 35990, mods aren't covered but they don't void my warranty. That comes with free windshield repair too.

Next closest was Youi followed by St george.
