Tiguan Extended Warranty

Hi Guys,

I booked a Tiguan 103TDI Pacific (DSG). Dealer offered us 4 year extended warranty for 2990. Its actually provided by Swan Insurance (5 star platinum extended warranty). Its transferable if we sell the car . Please advise if this is a good deal. I have never owned a VW so not sure of reliability in longer terms of use and the cost of repairs.

Read the PDS on the policy very carefully. Have a really good look at what is and is not included. You may find that the things you want covered are excluded.

Above all, remember that insurance companies are there to write policies and collect premiums. They do not make money by paying out on claims. They will write out risky items and actions and the ones they do cover are not really likely to be claimed on anyway.

Ultimately you decide for yourself but read and understand what you are buying. Just because it is called a warranty extension does not mean the manufacturer's warranty is being extended.
