Get it now and then transfer it to the new 1 when you get it .....

Yeh I know, problem is I don't know whether to keep this one for 5 or 6 years, or get rid if it next year and update again with another one? Not much point I guess because I think I'd just do it the same way again. But I really want the exhaust mod.

I'd love an R20 (regardless of the few critisisms), but just don't know if my back could live with it (bloody RAV drivers! ). Might have to see if the dealer would lend me one for a weekend.

No more APR downpipes for the Tigs? Have been looking on the APR site and they're not there anymore. Does anyone know of any alternatives?

APR ran a small production and then discontinued the product.

Viezu has developed one for the Tiguan - though I think they're waiting for the rest of the hardware bits to be ready for launching all products for the Tig together.

I've posted about it here: Viezu Tiguan Project Build

I suggest you talk to Simon at Viezu Australia as the more Tig owners giving him a gentle nudge he will get the message and start releasing the Tig VAR products for everyone to enjoy.

Find this on the apr website:

APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

It says the downpipe can be for front and awd. Wonder if it will fit the tig? Looking at downpipe & carbonio after tax time.

The Golf R downpipe is similar to the one for the Tig but it does need to be modified (i.e. won't bolt straight up).

A this stage you've got the following options:

    • find someone with a Tig DP that is looking to sell (rare)
    • talk nicely to Simon at Viezu (they have them but not yet launched)
    • plead with Guy Harding to do another production run (these were about $2k last time around and I think they made a total of 3 units for Oz)
    • go and get a custom exhaust made.

These were the options when I was looking into it around 12 months ago - don't think much has changed since.

I know this is a really old reply, but i am guessing a lot of that power is simply made from more boost as the downpipe flows easier and allows the turbo to make more boost.

Drop the boost back to what it was prior to the dump pipe being installed and see how much power the dump pipe makes, it wont be 12-15kw's

And is that what a dump pipe is worth these days? $2k for a dump only? and i thought $800 for a split dump on a Nissan was expensive

I believe you could pick up a techtonics tuning pipe as they are available from the US.

My understanding is that the larger DP allows higher flows with less restriction. It will reduce the velocity however it is the restriction of the stock DP which limits the power you're able to generate.

You would have to talk to a turbo exert as to how this effects the turbo spooling up. I am guessing that the lower velocity will cause spooling to be slower though stand to be corrected.

The $2k was for APR DP which are no longer available (price is probably a large reason here). I did also get a quote for a custom job which was about $1200 fitted.

You'll have to talk to Simon at Viezu re pricing for their hardware however his gear has been very affordable to date.

    Gent's,

I just bought a new Tiguan 132kw DSG today as a new company R&D car, so we will be revisiting this shortly. We will also be working on a direct fit APR intercooler (at the moment you have to modify the APR one slightly).

Lots of people spoke about seeing a stage 3 Tiguan, Maybe everyone will very soon
