I was looking around my[new to me] Tiguan & am wondering what's this special screw. At first it looked like it was something for lubricating the pivot pin but on removal it's completely dry inside. All the screws have been loosened after the car was painted as evident by the chipped paint. Anyone know the answer?

Well I reckon I can now answer my own question. I just watched a repeat of Ultimate Factories on the making of the Porsche 911. After the painting of the body, the doors are removed & sent away to a section where all the internals & trim is fitted. It obviously makes it more comfortable to work on with the door off & at convenient working height.
