Tiguan Battery - Stop Start Diesel

Thought I'd let everyone know; at around 2.5 years old I managed to get a replacement battery after mine got progressively worse, to the point where we weren't sure it'd start the next time. What was interesting was noting that the stop start function didn't kick in for at least 6 weeks in the limited time I drove it, and the fuel economy got worse (about a 1L/100km difference).

All covered under a 3 year warranty which was great.

What sort of mileage have you done in the 30 months you have had the Tig is it short commuter traveling or long journeys in excess of 50kms a day?

Our Tiguan is of similar vintage and has 34k on the clock. I have also enabled the DRL's to be switched on and off via the MFD and rarely use them. Not sure what the impact of these lights would have on reducing the charge from the alternator to the battery. On average the stop start may only work once or twice on her daily commute as we rarely experience the traffic congestion that Brisbane does.

Car has around 50,000kms on it, most of that was in Cairns, minimum journey about 20kms, with weekend trips often being 100kms. Last 5000kms was in Brisbane, a lot more short trips, but it was only the last 2 months that the fuel economy started to rise.
