Tiguan 155 Acceleration

I've recently aquired one of those Auto Polar boxes and I thought I would time my 0-100 sprints. I set the start point to 0km/h and end to 100km/h on the chronometer, select start, engage LC and go for it.

My car is a 155 Tig w 7spDSG (stock), 3/4 tank of 98 fuel and I weigh about 95kgs, outside temp was around 17c.

The highest time I recorded was 6.52 0-100, the best I got was 6.45. Of course I used Launch Control. Without LC I get 7.3 which is the factory claimed figure. Either I have a little more power on tap for some reason or the factory figures are without LC?? I would have thought VW would be using LC for their "claimed" figures.

I know there can be variations in real world figures, but I would have thought VW would publish the absolute best they could...

What sort of figures does everyone else get? Or is there sometimes a deviation in what the AutoPolar records?

I did notice that my auto polar shows around 95km/h when my spedo is on 100km/h. I'm guessing the Auto polar is true speed...

Also, are there any tuned out there w DSG's that know their 0-100 times?

yeh your speedo is allowed to be 10% +4kph over the actual speed but can not read under by anything. ADR regulations..VDUB..

I haven't done any LC runs but my Tig currently does 0-100 in around 7secs. However I'm waiting on a new tune file before I do any LC runs and I reckon I'll be in the low 6's or high 5's then.

I actually think VW is conservative with their 0-100 times (so that it's guaranteed that people can achieve it).

Plus they're not marketing their cars as performance vehicles and if they publish more agressive times, they may send the wrong message. After all these are figures in the marketing brochures that we're talking about (they can pretty much put anything in there that they like).

Regarding autopolar speed indication, this is the actual uncorrected speed read direct from the ECU (before they put the fudge factor on to display). I have checked the autopolar speed against highway speed checks and it is right on. So as long as you're running standard tyre sizes, your 0-100 times are going to be pretty accurate from the auto-polar.

And as far as repeatability I've got 0.01sec difference running on exactly the same strip, same conditions doing a foot to the floor test (which I think is more repeatable than using LC). So definitely have managed to get good repeatability.

Though what I haven't done is run the autopolar against a more accurate/standard/calibrated device. So this would be the acid test however given speed reading is accurate, I have no reason to doubt the 0-100 times the autopolar are putting out are pretty much spot on.

I now set my cruise control off the autopolar speed as I trust this more than the speedo (my speedo is about 6km/hr out at 110km/h).

That's odd Tigger73. I would have thought you'd be a lot quicker than me given that you have a tune with all those bits and I don't. Or is that with a stock calibration?

At the moment Viezu only has a Performance level tune for the Tig/Mk6 GTI. This is probably only a marginal improvement over the stock 155, though is a reasonable step up from the 125/132.

The Viezu techs are working on a Race level tune. As soon as I can get my car retuned with this I'll run some new numbers, then my car will run a lot quicker than it currently does.

In reality as far as the performance stakes goes I only have a tune + DP - the CAI will make a couple of kW at best and the FMIC is mainly for maintaining the performance over repeated runs or in warmer weather. All the other "stuff" is either cosmetic upgrades / additional non-performance features or handling upgrades so not really going to contribute to 0-100 times - probably go the other way as it's all extra weight

For what its worth Stg1 APR Tiguan manual will do 0-100 in 5.7s and Stg2 0.1-0.2s quicker than that. Stg1 quartermile in 14.0s which is quick for such a heavy car with only 190kw/400NM ...... another 2 tenths probably in it for Stg2 ....

Were the tyres warm? Makes a difference for me (but I'm FWD )

The published times for my car are for the hatchback (where as I have the wagon) and were done using EU 100 octane fuel/tune
