Question ATA Confirm and Rear Fog Light Queries

    Hello All,

I received my Tiguan 2 days ago and since then, I have been reading the manual and trying out features. However, I came across a few features which are not on my car but is in the manual. The model I have is 147 with dealer fitted tow bar. Could someone please confirm the following for me?

    1) Page 28 of the manual shows 2 additional Convenience menus which are not on my car. They are ATA confirm and Mirror down? Do you have it on yours?

    2) I cannot seemed to get my rear fog light to work. Is it because I have tow bar installed? I have not trailer connected.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    XTX

I believe the Mirror Down feature is only available in vehices with Memory Seats - which we don't get in Aus (much to my disappointment) So it won't be in your menu.

    Thanks Arctra,

I guess it's the same for "ATA confirm", maybe it's not in the Aus model.

Are you sure you are pulling out the light switch enough ??
Turn clockwise as far as possible ,pull out once for front fogs lights
pull out further again to the second notch to turn on the rear fog lights

I don't have my Tig yet but currently I have an MkV, had other VW previously and work for the company that produces the instrument cluster in Germany. So, I'm quite familiar with the menus.

    1) ATA is Anti-Theft Alarm: should be available if you had it. It's not popular in Aus and the sales people don't promote it either.
Mirror down: this function turns the left side mirror down when reversing. It was linked to comfort package in the Golfs from MY08 onwards. Not sure about the Tigs. I just missed it on my Golf...

    2) Rear fog light is only in one side. Turn the switch all to the right and then pull it. In case you have front fog lights it has two stages: 1st front, 2nd rear light.

    Guys,

Thanks for the comments. My response are as follow:

    juv3,

From what I have read so far, it is normal for only right rear fog light to work.

    borbor1313,

Yes, I have pull out the second notch, but I cannot see any rear fog light. Also, I can only see the front fog light sign on the dashboard but not the back fog light sign.

    Jamantha,

    1) I think VW has disabled the ATA confirm function and can only be enabled using VAGCOM.
    2) See above.

    Regards,
    XTX

    Hi XTX,

It seems like you have a real issue there. I suppose your car is under warranty and you will take to the dealer to check it. But if you want to take a look yourself if isn't just a disconnected wire at the back of the switch, it's easy to pull it out. Switch the knob off ("0" zero), press it and turn it right. It will lock than you can pull it out. I did it this morning on my Mk V just to confirm if the system is still the same.

Just saw on your profile that you have Anti-Theft Alarm, so it means VW deactivated this function in the menu for Australia. They do it all the time!
The convenience menu option "ATA confirm" is just for turning on and off the horn that beeps whenever you lock your car and activates the alarm. Does yours beep?

    Hello Jamanta,

Thanks for the advice. I have booked in my Tig to get it looked at by the dealer tomorrow.

As for the ATA, currently I think it's set to turn off (no beep). I don't really mind. I just wanted to have the option just in case I need it.

    Regards,

Different models and different years in different countries have different functions in the menus and it's almost impossible to keep track of all the variations. Most if not all the differing functions can be turned on or off with vag-com or by an accommodating dealer.

    Cheers
