We have fitted them to early & the late versions - the lower bit locates into two holes in the radiator support - it's identical to the Golf, so that cannot be an issue at all.
I can't be 100% as I wasn't there but was told that the VAR inter cooler hangs down lower which is fine in the Golf but in the Tig this ends up hitting the plastics on the bodywork.
I was told they had the front of my car off to look at fitting it and also that there is difference between the facelift Tig and first gen but this is not from first hand experience.
OK here's the audio clip. Probably doesn't give a true indication how loud this is - system is non-resonated.
This was a cool morning and the first 60 seconds the auto-choke is active. After that it quietens down... and then a couple of revs with a pop.
Here's a photo from under the rear of the car.

Hey t73, how are you liking it driving around town? Also like to get your thoughts on what it would be like out on the highway, once you get a chance!
I got a 2nd - handie CAI i'm gonna install tomorrow & may go down the path of more exhaust mod's soon...
Current: MY18 TRANSPORTER CrewVan, Indium Grey
Previous: MY10 Tiguan 2.0TSI, Silver Leaf, APR StgII tune + many mod's
You can drive it quietly around town - drive it in "D" and keep the revs under 2,500rpm and it's relatively docile.
However give it a boot load and it is pretty loud.
I have done about 1,000km of highway driving and there is no drone in the exhaust. You can certainly hear the exhaust note while cruising but it isn't intrusive. There is a fair amount of noise when overtaking and going up hills it is certainly louder than stock.
I'm still waiting for it to soot up completely (1,500-2,000km) and after that it should be pretty much how it's going to be.
...though still considering getting a resonator fitted as I do use the car for business.
Just a word of caution on installing any old CAI. The ECU is pretty sensitive with air flows and aftermarket CAI's can upset them (speaking from recent experience). I changed my CAI recently from one design to another this and caused all sorts of issues. Ended up reverting back to the stock intake and this fixed things.

Yes exactly - middle resonator is gone completely (must have evaporated while I was driving). Just a pipe with a couple of bends from the cat to the muffler at the back.
No drone at cruising speeds. HM Headers are making these for Viezu Australia under the VAR Design name. They are a major exhaust manufacturer and manufacture exhausts for HSV, Walkinshaw, Elfin as well as aftermarket systems for a lot of other cars. So they know a bit about making exhausts.
I wasn't expecting any increase in power - just sounds like it goes faster now
