Did you by chance drive the car with only the DP? no tune

I wouldnt mind the dump pipe if it helps to give it more power down low but not really a fan of getting it if it only performs better once its been tuned.... Although i know it wouldnt gain everything it can without the tune, surely the stock ECU would be capable of compensating enough to make some difference

I am not after a race car, i just want to try and remove some of that damn dead spot down low

Not much point in only doing a downpipe, the gains would be next to nothing as you say. It's not the way to go, either get a tune or do the downpipe and tune. The packages they are offering are really good value.

No sorry only had the DP with tune. In fact every tuner says you need a new tune file as soon as you change the DP so I don't think you'd be well advised to just change the DP. Basically the DP affects the way the turbo operates/spools up so the tune must match up to the DP you install.

Turbocharged engines will always have a flat spot low down before the turbo spools up - just a nature of the beast. So the only thing you can really control is what gear you are in.

As you're running a DSG one mod I did do which I'd highly recommend to any other DSG Tig owner is to install a flappy paddle steering wheel. That way you can downshift if you need to without having to take your hands off the wheel. Much easier that grabbing for the stick to put in "S" or trying to flick across into manual mode and then downshift at the same time.

In fact now that I have the DSG paddles I probably drive with them 80% of the time.

I use "S" mode with cruise control on the highway for instant accelleration when overtaking. If I'm trundling around with the family that's when I use "D". Most other times I use manual mode as it's much more satisfying to drive that way.

And the Tig will never be race car - more like a "stealth" hot hatch.

I had the pleasure of riding in this car today and geez does it feel quick even minus a few future goodies.

The under bonnet treatments/CAI look the business and while there is induction noise at certain times it is not intrusive at all, at least in my opinion. So much so that I now feel confident moving forward on some Viezu/VAR gear of my own.

Massive thanks to tigger73 for wasting some of his weekend on catching up with me, he has my early nomination for Bloke of the Year if such an award exists.

I'll be very interested in seeing where this goes once further mods and tunes are done.

Hey not a problem Dutch77. I know it's pretty hard trying to make a decision on which path to head down with tunes/hardware just by reading forum posts and info from various manufacturers/suppliers. Nothing like seeing/hearing the hardware in the flesh.

The new hardware passed the "wife test" as it didn't interfere with her listening to her favourite "doof doof" radio station so all is good.

That's a pretty quick 0 to 60 time for an SUV
The question is, are you going to do the Octavia also?

Yes and that time is without L.C. - just put the pedal flat and be nice to the DSG.

I reckon my Tig would give a stock Octavia RS a run for it's money.

Not sure my wife would be too keen on an Octy though - doesn't like wagons.

    No question about that
The stock Octavia VRS hatch in Euro tune does 7.5 sec 0 to 60
We are a tad down on tune due to our fuel and the wagon is a tad heavier
I was doing ~6.75 with stage 1 (about a second faster than stock)
I have not timed stage 2 as yet (really need a clean start to put the power down)
