I don't think you can go past 19x8.5 ET35 for stance credit that works without arch extensions...

My car is not lowered at all, and when I first fitted my wheels I didn't have wheel arch extenders and the wheels were almost flush (maybe 3mm outside of guards).

I guess with some lowering and some camber, the wheels would be flush

Which is why I am going to be sticking to 19x8 rims. Also I have a set of 245/40R19 tyres ready to go so these wouldn't be the best fit for a 19x9 either.

Yeah ok 19x8.5 but then I'm not sure what OEM options there are in that size.

Isn't that what there for? I use to have a o3 XT forester and it was a lot in the dirt when you wanted it to be.

I wouldn't have attempted this with a 2WD as there were some sections where I lost traction with all 4 wheels. However this has probably a bit to do with the fact that my tyres are near end of life and also more sports oriented than off-road tread pattern as well as the road conditions at the time.

I've had similar experience with sliding down muddy dirt roads in a Landcruiser so it's not necessarily an issue with the Tig as poor road conditions will cause the most capable 4WD to lose traction. Needless to say I wasn't pushing it through these sections.

This experience also has me rethinking my next car choice as I'm now putting off-road capability as a "must have" as I certainly wouldn't have liked to drive down this road with just 2WD.

Must be new Haldex testing time

Most people who tried a Tiguan off-road compliment its capability off-road and only limited by ground clearance and tires.

mmmm.. Let me think.. Golf R Mk7 ... or a Touareg V10 ?

For me I will get out of this 4 pot platform for sure
