Fingers crossed the gen6 is going to be a good reliable family/work car that holds it resale. Agree that they got it right with the gen4 and I think almost everyone that had one of these loved it (and still do). Subaru is aiming at getting a decent share of the medium car segment and unfortunately it means more mainstream vehicles that may not appeal so much to the enthusiast who wants to modify it into a performance car (i.e. no turbo motors in the range).

I just think they've lost it in the styling department.
Most people I know lowered them because the springs (esp the rear) sagged & were excessively bouncy. Mostly they bought off-the-shelf "sports" springs. A couple of mates had custom springs made by K-Mac that were plus 50% in spring rate but std height - they worked well.

True, and it was getting to that age and mileage where maintenance becomes a bigger issue, so it makes good sense.
We all just need to convince you of the importance of a new VAG project!

Funny you say that. I have been thinking along the same lines and putting together a criteria. This time if I do embark on a new project I think I'll plan it a bit better and also look at how I'm going to fund it also!!!!We all just need to convince you of the importance of a new VAG project!

You could have get a Q3 with a K04 (12.2 sec quartermile ) and beat RSQ3 stage 1 and you had lot of parts for that project in that lost Tig !!
