it'd be cheaper to get a new wife...
but seriously, it depends if its 'in stock' or 'customer order', think if that car is on the lot then a
dealer would be keen to move it.

1961 Karmann Ghia Coupé - 1993 Golf Cabriolet - 2006 Golf Comfortline 1.9L TDI
2008 Jetta 2.0L FSI
I get $55,150 drive away for the car and options (excluding MDI, roof racks and side steps) not including any discounts.
Not sure how you are getting quoted such a high figure unless they inlcude luxury car tax and some other high costs such as on roads and registration etc etc.
Check out discountnewcars.com.au for pricing.
Also ask one of the friendly dealer staff on the forums for a pricing comparison.

If it is still too much ask yourself do you really need all those options?

Tell him he's dreamin'
From memory, you could get an almost fully optioned 147TSI for that price (which I thought was still steep, even for a "no wait" immediate delivery).
Sorry PaulRozza!
Anyhow FWIW, mine came in at about $55K (with fleet discount), but 5 month's wait!

MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)
after some nego...
price is 60k drive away....
This is the second post recently regarding prices that seem rather high, has there been a hike in prices for accessories? I realise there are some big ticket items in this list but $60k?
Perhaps they are relying on the good reputation of the Tig to get them sales...
MY10 Tiguan 125TSI | Pearl Black | Manual | Comfort Pack | Kamei Eyelids | MDI | Not Leather | Rubber Floor Mats | Kids | Random Spillage | VWWatercooled Sticker | APR stage I | H & R springs | ECB nudge bar
From discountnewcars, 103 TDI base is $40,844 for VIC. You are adding around $20k+ of options, without counting side steps and roof racks.
DSG - $2.5k
Xenon - $2k
Leather - $4k
Park assist+off road+MDI - ~$2k
sunroof - $2k
18" - $2k
bluetooth + fog - ~$1k
comfort - $1k
Sat nav+RVC - $3.7k
I am not sure how much the steps and racks cost but I guess it will be $$$.
Try to receive the fleet discount if you can and you'll be looking around 10% off the RRP, ~$59k (assuming RRP is 66k as the dealer said). I do not think you'll be able to receive 15% or so discount for a factory order...
From my recent Tiguan purchase experience, you'd better off by contacting every dealer within your state and work your bargain in... Leave your 2~3 preference dealers (may be geometrically close or you know that they generally give a good price) to the last contacts after you get the feel on the pricing from other dealers... When I enquired on a same spec tiguan to various dealers, the price difference was huge ($2~3k) - and those who gave the higher price did not want to negotiate... I generally received better discounts from big dealers and they were also willing to negotiate.
Don't be afraid of asking the price that you'd like (need to be reasonable of course). If the dealer is keen, which means that you'll most likely get a good discount, they will always come back to you and try to negotiate. good luck!
