When you switch the car off and then restart, does it pick up where it left off automatically (like with a CD), or do you have to reselect the album etc?

For 125kw they do go well and seem to go much better than other cars of similar power (most of which are also much lighter). Must be that added bit of torque - either that, or some manufactures are being very liberal with their claimed power figures and VW is being more honest.

Of course you know what to do if you'd like a little more...

I have checked my 147 for the backlit red lights and can confirm that the rear passenger reading lights and the door opening lights on the over head console is backlit with red lights, like other switches.

THanks for checking the lights. VW confirmed it was a fault and have ordered a whole new console from Germany and going to fit it. Havent had the best of luck with the car so far. Car coolant gauge hit 130 whilst I was driving (not hard) and i rang VW. They were very good and organised a tow from my workplace to the dealer. (over 40 kms) Gave me a loan golf 2.0 tdi (which went very well actually) and a day later they had it fixed. Good service but disappointing with a 50k car. Apparenly the cooling fans were faulty.

I wonder if this was yet another (I've heard of 3 now) one where the dealers "forgot" to connect the fans before delivery ??? Evidently they're (the fans) disconnected when shipping so they can't start up accidentally. Would be interesting to know what the actual "fault" was.

    Cheers
