Tig - brake & accelerator non responsive on different occasions

    Hi guys

Hope to get some help. I have a 2013 Tiguan, which has mostly been a pleasant experience HOWEVER!

I was driving and the accelerator did not engage for 5 secs. I was driving at 50 kms/hr & my foot was DEFINATELY NOT on the brake. After the 5 secs, the accelerator reengaged like nothing had ever happened.

Same happened once with the brake, it would not engage despite pressing it all the way to the floor, few secs later it braked.

I have had it back at the dealership and they are saying no codes are coming up when they are reading it.

Has anyone else had similar experiences??

    Thanks everyone,

    Jennifer.

I am assuming you have the DSG model?
It is well documented that the DSG's tend to throw a false neutral, more so in teh smaller DQ200 model however.

I would take it to another dealer and explain your situation and get them to look into it.
Which dealer did you go to first?

    Hi Jennifer,

Sorry to hear about your recent experience with your Tiguan.

Can you let us know which model (118/132/155/103TDI) and transmission (manual/auto/DSG) you have.

Unfortunately it's hard for the dealer to help when they can't see the fault or reproduce it. I know this is really not a very satisfactory answer but it's the unfortunate truth.

    Thank you both for replies!

I have the DSG model yes. It's the 103TDI - if that changes anything.

I took it back to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle from (Ipswich). I understand it is hard for them to rectify something they can't see, however, I am concerned it happens - say on the highway. The joy of cars....

Have a look at this thread re false neutrals with the DSG: DSG tried to kill me...

I believe there may have been a thread/post about brake pedal issues similar to what you describe, but I couldn't find it - you may have some more luck on a google search of the site.

It seems these issues are hard to replicate and happen only very occasionally. Not to say that it's not dangerous but it is very hard to diagnose.
