I do some of these days for VW Australia as an instructor -

It's all completed in their fleet of cars, and the day is about education and fun (and doing it as safely as possible of course...).

Some of the exercises I've done on these days include:

Fuel Economy Driving Techniques - briefing as well as driving yourself
4WD Course (dependant on the availability of a track) including use of off-road technology

    Driving Exercises using new technology:
OPS - Optical Parking System - basically parks the car for you using sensors - completely
ACC - Active Cruise Control - has an in-built radar and adjusts speed accordingly, including a complete stop
ESP - Electronic Stabilisation Program - manages each corner in a skid, including traction control
ABS - Anti-lock Braking System - prevents the wheels from locking in an emergency stop

I've also done a "Motorkhana" type event on each of my days - it's the "competitive" part of the day, you have to get through the course as quickly as possible - winner gets a prize of some sort.

Finally - Hot Laps are generally done at the end of the day with professional drivers in the quicker vehicles on the circuit - R50, R36, R32, Skoda Octavia RS if they happen to be there, Golf GTi Pirelli, and most likely the Golf R.

It's a great day out, no matter what the weather - learn a lot and have a lot of fun.

I actually think I have a video I shot with my phone of the ESP exercise, someone in a Tiguan - if I find it i'll post it up for all to see. How do I post a video on here anyway?

    Cheers.

Great thread here, Teamie. Can't wait to see both pictures and the car in the flesh one day soon.

I'll have to come out on a Tiguan cruise as soon as I'm on my opens. Stupid P plate laws.

    Haha thanks Maca.

Unfortunately work got in the way, stupid meetings being scheduled so late in the day) so i got home and it was as dark as the ace of spades outside.
Going to have a half day/early arvo today though to get home and grab some pictures of the updates for you guys.

Only 2 more boxes of updates and they are only small ones.
But i have another 2 more arriving soon and still 1 yet to order.

Hopefully we see you in the white Tig when the P plate laws come off ^_^

    Edit:
Screw it, wanted to take some classy shots for you guys but coulldn't help myself so i went down and took some bodgy shots with my point and shot in the darkness.

Wheels will be arranged for purchase today, hoping to have them next week.
Reverse camera is sitting in a box at my place waiting to be installed when i have a few hours free as it requires wiring and panel removal.
Also have some Osram Rally bulbs being shipped over to go in the headlights and will need to get springs when i have arranged everything else.
Might look into a rear sway bar.

Hoping to take some better shots when i get home today to show off the whole thing, looks better when the flash isn't on and from a little further away.
The black surrounds match the black plastic surprisingly well.

Yeah the lack of a DSLR means i can't get the surreal photos but a tripod and a medium quality point and shoot can get some okay looking shots.
They are inspiring though Transporter, i was hoping to get some good ones from Mt Glorious, maybe on a cruise, i know there is one on teh 20th now i just have to get approval from the chief financial officer.

We have to catch up for a chat/install Sharkie.
We'll both be at the driver training event so if we can organise something then.
I have that week off work but i don't know if i will be in Brisbane as we might be going for a few days holiday.

Also have the car booked in to see Guy on Tuesday ^_^
