Took it to my local independent (Prestige and performance) and let them know i did the cabin filter so it wasn't needed to be replaced.
Also got my tyres rotated at the same time as the frequent happy laps were starting to wear the fronts a bit faster than the rears.

All up it cost $550 which was significantly less than I was expecting.

Next Happy Laps is booked in for 12 July at Lakeside Park again (where the Brisbne VW Drive Experience is being held this year)
    Hi Team-v,
Took my Tig to local car club sprint racing day (on 0.9km Go-Kart track) - not sure what format the Happy Laps are, but this was basically timed laps on your own. Unfortunately the class I'm in is "Turbo 4wd" which included all the bombed up to the eyeballs Evo's and WRX's so had no chance of keeping up! Only other Euro's were a VW GTi, and was only a second or so off his pace, and a BMW M3 (V and was about 4s behind him.
Great fun though - round after next is on permanent part of V8 Supercar track in Tsv, so that should be interesting
Have booked place for VW Drive Day at Phillip Island in October, so looking forward to "honing my skills" there......
I'm up for my 60k service later this year too, and unfortunately have to prepare myself for what the Dealer's going to sting me as no Independents that know Euro's here (the joys of Sticksville).....

    Sounds like fun!
The Happy Laps format is essentially the full lakeside track with traffic calming cones forcing a chicane half way along the track.
No timing is available and the speeds are "limited" but basically you can crack 170 on the straight consistently.

It is really interesting to see just how well the Tig compares to the other cars out there.

Keen to see some pictures/video of your outing.

Also see if you can ask the guys at Prestige and Performance @ Coorparoo what is required for the 60k service as mine was quite cheap compared to the service schedule pricing on the forum.
They did say that there was something on the Tig that wasn't on the golf (maybe the chain, not belt, can't really recall) that made it a lot cheaper/less timely to service.

Cool, thanks. Might even try and get on Erwin to see if I can get Service Schedule - if I can remember how (been a while)
Wasn't able to get any pics/video unfortunately as my official photographer had to go to babysit while his missus got hair done (sigh).....

Picked up a screw right on the outer corner of the front drivers tyre.
Not able to be repaired so a new set of Kumho Ku31's went on today.
So much grippier than the old set as they were due to be replaced soon anyway.

Just in time for another happy laps in October.

Good to see you are still going here Team V and still enjoying the Tig.

On "They did say that there was something on the Tig that wasn't on the golf (maybe the chain, not belt, can't really recall) that made it a lot cheaper/less timely to service."

The 2.0 litre in the Tigs being the same as the Mk6 Golf gti motor is chain driven. Others such as the Audi 2.O TFSI (base for the Golf R) are Belt driven, which does add a fair cost when due to be replaced but thats usually post 100thou. Not sure if that helps.
    cheers

Glad to see this is still going. This was the first build thread I started reading a few years ago and I keep coming back every few months for the updates. Big ups for the commitment (y)

Thanks for the kind words gents.
The Tig still continues to put a smile on my face every time i drive it.

I do keep an eye on Ramee and his K04 but the limited range of first gear in the manual makes me question whether it is worth the upgrade.

I would say do it I am sure you have seen this thread Build: DT's Build Thread - 2009 Tiguan - By DT EXP His Tig is same as yours manual transmission and he got an upgraded south bend clutch. However you are going to push the engine way beyond the intended specs so expect some snags and prepare for anything

+1 If there's one person that would actually get use out of a K04 Tig it would be you team_v. How about selling it to yourself this way.... you could either do the K04 and clutch upgrade or trade-in to a new car. Once you look at the resale numbers you know it's going to work out cheaper to K04 your current car. Problem solved

Yeah Tig's resale values are pretty week. Specially now new models have arrived and it will go down further. Another reason to buy a Golf R they hold their value
