Wasn't the clutch/gearbox the limiting factor here?

Given that Clays Tig is a manual I don't think he was keen on upgrading the turbo until the other bits had been beefed up first.

Well the melting fuse recall was completed this morning, 30 minute wait and it was all done.

The clutch was the limiting factor in going for further upgrades given that the guys in the US are still trying to find a valid solution for the 6MT (Golf R Clutch doesn't fit apparently).

So the extra cost for a turbo upgrade + supporting mods and brakes was not really justifiable given i only go to the happy laps days up here and the car sits in it's garage 5 days of the week without the chance to use all the extra power from going past Stage 2.

Also i figured it would be better to sink the money into a holiday/investment property.

Just ticked over 34,000, I would guess that probably a quarter of those are from happy laps and VWW cruises
The joys of living close to the CBD.

Car is booked in for it's 4yr/60k service on Friday.
This is a big one so the cost is going to be a bit more than the usual oil/filter services haha.

Still cannot fault the car for the money.
The Octavia RS didn't have the AWD i wanted and the Amarok was another 2 years away so i didn't really have many options.

Well, a solution now would be to get married ..... make the Tig your new wife's car (as a wedding present) and buy a new Amarok. End up with the best of both worlds .... keeping the Tig and getting an Amarok

1 step ahead of you there mate.
We don't need a second car (yet) so it is hard to justify changing the current situation.

Also, figured i should probably play is smart and put the money into the home loan so i can have my midlife crisis and buy a self driving porsche

Definitely not worth selling or trading in.

Explored that a few months ago and was absolutely gutted by the trade in price offered.

We're talking 67% depreciation off the price I paid for my Tig and with just 40K on the clock.

Made absolutely no sense doing it and getting back just enough to get a new basic Polo with no creature comforts.

Well the Tig handled QLD Raceway pretty well today.
Definitely hard on the brakes and tyres but kept up with everyone else which was good.

Always good to get compliments form the Golf R owners who are surprised at how i can keep up/catch them.

Should also note the car had its 4 year/60k service 2 weeks ago.
Took it to my local independent (Prestige and performance) and let them know i did the cabin filter so it wasn't needed to be replaced.
Also got my tyres rotated at the same time as the frequent happy laps were starting to wear the fronts a bit faster than the rears.

All up it cost $550 which was significantly less than I was expecting.

Next Happy Laps is booked in for 12 July at Lakeside Park again (where the Brisbne VW Drive Experience is being held this year)

Well the car just crossed 35,000km (had the stage 1 tune since 1000km) and it is continuing to perform flawlessly.
Happy Laps on Saturday was a blast, woke up at 4:45 to wash the car in the 3.3 degree ambient temperatures.
Nice cold air was good for the car at Lakeside and the brakes/tyres held up fine.

Looking like i will need replacement tyres by the end of the year though.
2 years for a set (rotated at each service) is pretty good considering they are taken to happy laps roughly ever 6-8 weeks.
Can't fault hte KU31's for a entry level sports tyre.
