What do tyre shops feel about fitting tyres you bought elsewhere? Just curious, as when i bought my springs & was looking for someone to fit them, the 1st 2 places i called said NO! (don't do just fit, only supply & fit). Supposing they want to make a dollar out of the work, they would want to charge an hours labour (or more?) with balance & align?
I bought my last set of wheels and tyres to my local Bob Jane and asked them to put them on for me.
No issues at all but they are a pretty reputable shop there.
I can see why some places wouldn't want to do it but even if they charge an hours labour it still works out to be $200 less per tyre than to buy them at the store.
Bob Jane at Coorpaaroo were happy to swap the tyres for me (even after I advised that i will provide the tyres)
It's booked in for Tuesday morning, $25 per tyre for fitting, balancing and disposal of the old tyres.
So all up $250 per corner delivered, fitted and balanced and old tyres disposed.
That's awesome wheeling & dealing, i must say! Will definitely look into this when i need some new rubber. That's 245/45/19, yeah?
What business would say no to $100 these days. They maybe don't make any money on the tyres but they will pick up on the labour. In reality it's going to take them the same time to fit some All-rounders on an old Commodore and they probably only make $10 a tyre so they're really not losing out that much.
Another fun morning out at Lakeside.
Tig performed flawlessly, new KU31's gripped really well only starting to let go 20 minutes in.
good stuff Clay! But are you are still running the stock clutch? You must have clocked up a few k's by now, and well, IME track days aren't too kind on clutches :)
