So after a week of being away, i randomly get the bulb out warning on the LED's for the driving lights.
Going to have a play with them tonight and see if i can solve it.

All other lights are working fine.

Also just received the recall notice for the door handle adjustment (57D5)

Washed the Tig for the first time in 2-3 months over the weekend.
2 bucket method is a god-send as the rinse bucket turned black with road grime, dirt and brake dust.
Using nanolex reactivating shampoo (nead to give it another coat of sealant next time as it's now been about 12 months since the last one) which is good, not strong smelling but does the job.

Also i cannot reccomend highly enough the Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner. I just sprayed it on the wheels before i started to wash the body panels and then gave the wheels a wipe with a wash mit when i finished the rest of the car.
Brake dust comes off very easily!!!

Have another session of Happy Laps at Lakeside on Saturday and then a full afternoon of driver training in the Tig (private training - not run by VW)

Went back to the dealership for the door handle recall.
Was advised it would take 1 hour and it was bang on 1 hour.
Service area looked spotless and had free hot drinks/water and free wifi.

Also have another round of happy laps this weekend after which i will probably need some new tyres as the treadwear indicators are pretty close to the surface.

Front tyres are getting pretty worn down after 10 happy laps sessions.

Checked with all the local tyre dealers and prices for anything suitable were $380 - $550 each.
checked with tirerack and they were better but still a bit pricey.

Ended up going with St George Tyres for a replacement set of Kumho's for $223 per corner delivered.
Now i just have to find a place to fit them and dispose of the old tyres for a reasonable price and i should be good for another 2.5 years.

Crikey! $550 tyres! Who makes those ones & what is their claimed area of excellence?

So, how many k's did you end up getting out of the Kumho's & how many k's do you do in an average happy laps sesh? I know you aren't particularly kind to them...

Option1 Garage quoted $371 per kumho.

Beaurepairs quoted $510 per kumho and $487 per dunlop sport max tt.

Tirerack is $204 per kumho but costs $430 to ship 4 tyres and requires wire transfer which also costs money.

I have cancelled the order with St George Tyres as they require a signature upon delivery or they can't drop the tyres off.

Going to call tempe tyres and see if i can pay via credit card and have them delivered anyway.

I ended up with 23,000km out of the Kumho's.
The happy laps sessions go for about 50km and tend to be quite hard on the left (especially the front) tyre.
They were rotated at about 10,000km.

I am very happy with how they perform.
When you consider the cost compared to a "true performance" tyre there isn't much out there that comes close.

I would guess 35-40,000km out of a set with standard driving.

You often see those "get four, pay for three" deals come up from BJTMart or Bridgestone type of places. Can you hang out for a bit? Is there a Costco in Brissy yet, they also have good prices?!?

Beaurepairs has the buy 4, pay for 3 deal on the dunlops, bringing the cost down to $487 each.
Unfortunately i can't wait any longer but will source a set of kumho's from tempe this week and have them fitted before the next happy laps.

    No costco here unfortunately.
