Team V great to see you got to Lakeside, have thought about it for ages, but have never quite got around to it, shame about the restrictions.
The track good enough to wind it out to at least 200? Know the tig is supposed to be good for about 200 with APR stage 1 and it will pull 200 easy in 4th - something you simply cant do on public roads. Any heads up on how good a drive the track is, any restrictions etc?
If you are going up there again, maybe we could organise a day for a few?
cheers - Jimbo

I'd believe that, the turbo comes on really early in the piece so you get the jump on a lot of people.
A lot of the JDM cars had a delayed onset (3k or 4k rpm) and less of apeak power range.

Jimbo, normally the restrictions aren't too bad since it is wider than a normal 2 lane road and in the dry there is a lot of grip.
I haven't been pushing it too hard but i managed to see 170km/h on the speedo on the dry events.
Lakeside is also a short technical circuit with more turns and short straights.
Next time (2 weeks) we do another one out at Queensland Raceway (long straights) so i will report back on top speed then.
It is an absolute blast doing track driving as you get to really immerse yourself in the "go fast" experience without having to worry about speed cameras or traffic or anything.
There are no restrictions (other than guideline speed limits depending on the weather).
However these aren't a proper track day, just a 30 minute session before the full track day starts so a proper track session will have more safety requirements (helmet etc)
We will be going up to Lakeside in June for the next one.
Early morning's are hard on the sleep but good for cold air and weather!
Hi there team_v and perhaps some of the guys here. Where on eBay did u source the spare key blade from? I want to cut a spare key for myself. And also, do u have step by step photos on how to open up the key casing to take the original key blade out? Thanks!!!
This is the one i have
BLANK KEY volkswagen GOLF PASSAT Jetta GTI Golf | eBay
See below for hte picture on how to split the oem key (i believe this was only on the 08 and 09 models though as mine which is a 2010 doesn't have this ability.)

I picked mine up 19 June 2010 but it wasn't an order. Just 'off the lot'. Is the build date part of the VIN or other identifier? I'm sure i can look it up somehow?

Aaaah... Thanks for that guys. I'll have a look at getting the spare key. I've actually got a spare transponder (the black casing w the chip in it) and had it recoded. But the blade is of another VW. I could possibly find a blank blade that be fitted into the body so that I can flip it open like normal?
Some of the eBay ones I just saw is only the straight blade. N the other ones comes w the body n blade but just the shell ie no chip inside. I guess I can transplant the blade over to the spare body I have that's already been coded yea?
Any general locksmith will be able to cut it accordingly?
Thanks MGV for ur PM! Let me know once u've done urs.
