    How do you apply the nanolex? is it just like normal wax & polish? The "aftercare" lady at the dealer was trying to sell me the paint protect / leather protect package but at > $1000 I think it's a rip off.

    It is just a spray bottle.
    Once the car is washed and dried, just a quick spray over the top of the bodywork (to cover with a light mist) and then buff it off with a microfibre towel.
    Takes all of about 5-10 minutes and has worked a treat so far.
    Also works on the windscreen to make water bead and run off more easily.

    does it last for a few washes or do you need to do it after every wash?

    I am going on a 4 wash application.
    I wash the car every 4 weeks (once a month) so i will re-apply it every 4 months.
    I believe the website speicifies a 6+ month protection period.

    Bit more of an update.
    I had the trip average fuel consumption on this morning for the drive home (28km)
    The car with APR stage 2 + 50% of the traffic lights having a quick take off netted me 7.6l/100km
    I am confident that you could stay in the low 7's if you are playing the fuel economy game.


    Hoping to get the Tig on the roller's when JMac organises the next Dyno day.

    I've skim-read, so please forgive me if I'm leaving out key parts...

    I'm impressed by that power output from the 2.0 TSI engine at APR2+
    Is that 210kw posted earlier at the wheels?
    A Pirelli owner (DeanCorp) recently posted his GIAC stage 2+ output and it was 209kw @ peak (older TFSI engine, but k04).

    Wheels are a perfect OEM+ upgrade.
    Nicely done - they fill out those generous arches perfectly.

    On a practical note - can you lug much in one of these? much more than a Golf?

    Hi mate.
    I don't blame you for skimming, i do the same in other build threads.

    The power output is measured at the engine so you would have to factor in drivetrain loss to get an ATW figure.
    The Tiguan doesn't run a K04 from what i have read/heard so it is running pretty well considering it hasn't had any engine modifications iother than bolt on bits and the remap.


    I love the wheels, they have grown on me since i got them, i was originally after some VMR V710's but due to their lack of communicationa dn stuffing us around i just went for these and am really happy with the look.
    The shadow chrome finish matches the dark grey plastics on the car.


    I have fitted my mountain bike in the back of the car with et seats folded down and i could fit another one in the car as well.
    The 60/40 folding rear seat allows for the carriage of 3 or 4 people while gaining extra space to carry items.
    The rear seats are also on a slider which will give extra boot space.
    And the boot has a floating floor which covers the spare, if you remove the spare and the floating floor you would gain even more room.

    I believe there was a comparrison of the Golf/Golf wagon and TIguan boot space in another thread and the tiguan was almost as big as the wagon.

    Should take some measurements and post them up when i get some free time.

    I have removed the biscuit spare etc in ours and replaced with a can of tyre weld. Most of the other stuff i had under there fitted quite easily in the end in the side storage bins - I was quite surprised. I'll add a towball mounted spare for longer and 4wd trips but are quite comfortable relying on the tyre weld for local trips.

    All I'll say is freeing up that space makes the boot space of the Tiguan quite substantial and combined with the sliding back seat, very flexible. It provides some really useful depth to the roof line (ie if carrying something high - has proved a real bonus a few times with moving furniture) and I now have no concerns whatsoever with boot space in the Tig.

    Similar story - i've taken out the spare wheel, including the foam surrounding and all the associated bits and pieces and keep a can of tyre weld on me.
    BUT, i've taken it one step further and removed ONE side of the rear seats completely.

    I've put in a bicycle front fork mount which attaches to the (now missing) rear seat bolt down points - i can fit two bicycles (potentially 3) side by side, upright in the back, all while leaving boot space for other things. AND i still have 3 seats available in the car for use - it's pretty rare for me to have any more than that
    - myself driving, and 2 mates is fine usually..

    Heaps of room!
