Finally got the night off so i am going to try fitting the Osram 65W bulbs for the headlights and going to try modifying the hella rear lights so that it won't throw a fault code (thus giving me back my steering wheel controls for the stereo)
Thanks again Nis.
I will see how it goes with the stock lights back on it, not a hard job to change them over.
I might consider an R badge lol, i really like the clean rear though so an R badge would break it up a bit (plus the mk6 R guys might get a bit annoyed )
I was considering colour coding the plastic mouldings to match the R-Line tiguan's but it would end costing too much for the added benefit.
Just need to wait for the dollar to get better before i get the springs now.
Hey mate.
I got your pm just now, been busy all weekend with no net access.
It was a shame you couldn't be there, all up there were 3 tig's in the parking lot, and 1 that we could use for the Slalom run.
I am sure they will hold another as it was extremely successful.
6.2 was the average for the trip, not the totalaverage since i got the car (that is sitting in the low 9's now)
I was cruising on 100km/h most of the way in 6th gear, for 45km there and back (so all up about 90km with 20km of that being non highway driving)
There was 110km/h sections but they tend to kill the fuel economy.
I must say that i agree with your comments about fuel economy being a challenge.
You can work so hard to get it down to low 6's, then all it takes is a quick burtst of the throttle and bam, it's back up at the high 6's again.

New bulbs are in, noticeably white light output and greater throw distance than the stock lights.
Replaced the oem rear lights in the boot door to stop tehbulb out warning for the rear foglight.
Warning is gone now but i can't seem to access the stereo in teh MFd from the steering wheel so i guess it has to be coded to recognise the stereo maybe....
Received a voucher from Highway VW for a free photoshoot to the value of $800.
Going to contact them to see if i can have it in store credit for servicing rather than a photoshoot.
Pics of the bulb upgrade for you:
Old:
New:
Bulbs look good V, how much were they if you don't mind me asking?
2008 VRS Wagon. Yellow, very yellow!
Forever blowing bubbles.
$80 from candlepower.
Definite visibility and whiteness increase due to the further throw of the light.
Worthy upgrade from the stock yellow output bulbs.
Not a bad price, I was looking at the Philips crystal visions but I might give these a try.

So i am almost given up on getting the maps to work for the Zenec ZE-NC2010.
The rest of the unit works perfectly but i just cannot get the maps to update for Australia.
On the up side, the RNS510 arrived about 5 minutes ago or so i have been told with full V3 Australian maps and updated firmware so that can go in later this week.
Just a shame that i loose the MDI, DivX, Blutooth and Inbuilt amp that are part of the Zenec system.
The Zenec unit might be up on ebay soon or if anyone wants to try their hand at it they can pick it up cheap from me before i move it on.
Shame to hear about the Zenec system it looks like a awesome little system for what it is
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...
It is a shame Steve.
The unit offers greater or equal functionailty than the RNS510 as it includes all the extras (MDI etc)
It also offers 3d scaling for maps and cars and all that jazz but i just can't seem to get it to work.
Maybe if someone with a more technology based background could get it to work but i am a bit lost at what to do next with it so i caved and sourced the RNS unit.
Hopefully I'll have it installed by Wednesday.
