Tailgate Bike Rack for Tiguan

Hi All,

Recently purchased my 147 and have found this site incredibly useful so far.

I've read the discussions about the various options of tow bars and roof racks available, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of (or has) a bike rack for the tailgate like I've been able to find in a UK VW catalogue?

Volkswagen Genuine bicycle rack for tailgate Practical and quick to fit. Carries a maximum of two bicycles. Made from anodised aluminium sections, with an anti-theft locking device. Pre-assembled, therefore especially easy to attach. Net weight: 12.5 kg. Max. load: 45 kg. Scheduled for release in March 2008.

Wow, not only is that ugly as f#ck, it is way overkill
Check out the saris bones rack if you want a good tailgate rack (for a lot less $) although does sit lower than the VW part.

Thule make a decent tailgate rack as well.
Only reason I would try and get the VW one is if you have a problem fitting a particular frame by the top tube, usually more associated with DH bikes than anything else.

@99_FGT - thanks for the link to the Saris rack. Does that fit a Tiguan (having a tough time visualising)....

In regards to the Thule racks, do they make one for the tailgate that doesn't require it to be attached to a tow bar? I couldn't see any on the Thule website.....

@gareth_oau - They do indeed look great, and no they don't appear to make a version for the Tiguan's "trunk"...
