    Suburban cruising: 50-60 km/h 6 spd auto triptronic in a 132TSI Pacific

Hi All, 2 days and 110km in with my Tiguan - I'm not overly worried (perhaps it's me getting used to the car) - but I am having real issues with driving it around the suburbs between 50 and 60 km/h.

During the working week most of my driving will be up to 10-15 km per day on neighborhood streets usually at 50km/h with a few main road sections where I get up to 60!

The 6 spd auto triptronic really has trouble coping with this speed range consistently jumping between D3 and D4. I've adjusted my foot on the pedal... I'm now very light footed and patient; however, the transmission jumping about in this speed range is a bit off-putting.

I've read somewhere that the transmission will 'learn' how I drive.. is this true, or is it me that needs to learn to drive it?
(btw... coming from a BA Falcon with 4spd auto)

Can someone also fill me in on the [S] setting on the transmission (not the sports shift) but the [S] setting below the [D] normal drive with +/- shift.

    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

If you are describing the problem with 4th gear being too low (producing a low rumbling noise in the cabin), and suddenly jumps to 3rd, then drops back again when It picks up a little speed.. yes.. a few of us have that too. Though it does get much better over time.

Some one has reported the issue to VW and they responded with "a possible firmware update in the works".

As for the [S] mode, it just holds the gear in higher revs for longer, and makes the pedal more sensitive. Don't use this until you've had 1000km.

Thanks for the feedback kaotickelly, I think I'm adapting to it quicker than it's adapting to me. Short inclines seem to be the worst, I am now simply using the manual shift - flick to the left and hold it in D3 - then back to D once I'm over the worst of it.

Thanks for the tip wrt [S] mode. I've got my first highway trip ~ 400km tomorrow evening - I'm looking forward to it.
