    Side Mirror Heaters

Just wondering... I have a MY2011 Tiguan and with the side mirror control on the driver-side door there is a small red LED that appears to indicate for the side-mirror heaters / demisters.

    a) is there even a feature like this for the Tiguan? does it come with the 125TSi? Comfort pack?
    b) how do you turn it on / off?
    c) is that LED for another function I am not aware of?

Can't seem to find it on the manual. (Maybe I just haven't had a decent enough look).

    Thanks in advance.

I believe the led is to show that the car has an alarm system/immobiliser.
You can't turn it off and it comes as standard on any tiguan i believe.

I have used the heated mirrors setting on the mirror control knob and it worked fine but i don't know if the car has to be on the demist function or not for it to work.

Good question I can't figure it out either. I'm guessing it's linked with the rear window (guessing!). On my old polo it was in the centre of the knob to adjust the wing mirrors but this doesn't seem to work in the Tig for me.

Just turn the side mirror knob, so that the line is pointing north or front of car, for heat mirrors to come.

Don't think they have to be on demise to work. They just work if the dial is in the right spot.

I use the mirror heaters all the time during winter (really weird, cold and slightly evil weather down here) and I don't use the rear demist at the same time - they work a treat!

Even though aussietig can usually be relied apon, NEVER turn the knob to 'demise' Obvious reasoning...

    Thanks for all the replies.

Sorry it took a while to get back, I'm not a regular on the forum.

I'll try the demisters soon enough. Twisting the knob all the way north just seemed wrong when I tried it at first and initially I thought I broke the controls. I'll have a 2nd look.

    Thanks again.
