My Caddy just went in for its first "complementary" service to give it the once over after having run a couple of thousand km. One point I raised with them was whether the mirror heater knob was broken because I expected it to point to the heater symbol and not all the way around to point to the front. The dealer assured me that it was OK.

As for an indicator to say they are on, I have not been able to find any. The manual does say that they stop working when the outside temperature goes over 20 degC.

Here's what it looks like when turned on!

Yes ... it doesn't actually point at the heater symbol.

I would suggest not leaving it permanently in this setting.

But reality is ... you will forget sometimes and just turn off the car and get out.

I have also found this function to be less than positive in action. The placement of the heated rear mirror icon makes you think it should be aligned but it feels like it will break if you move it there. There is also no feedback to say it is on or working, whether it works independently of the demist function or in conjunction with it. It needs fixing to improve ergonomic function in the next version.
