    Drive away $39,XXX

I paid 37k so those are some bloody expensive badges and steering wheel upgrade.....
I also got pearl paint and floor mats thrown in so it makes the disparity even more apparent.
Good on you for paying 37K for yours, I guess so does everyone else here were able to some discount too, no one pays full RRP price for a new car, what you see on TV advertised is VW's RRP driveaway price, the FACT is the MY11 gets the DSG and new nicer steering wheel upgrade for the same price as the MY10 car. Basically's it's a FREE upgrade and NOT a bloody expensive upgrade.
Just because your MY10 car does not have all the NEW gears, stop trash talk it.

The RRP is for the base model and as such does not include the new DSG box costs.
How on earth a new steering wheel (that is already used in the mk6 golf, thus reducing costs due to mass production) and a 4Motion badge ($2 worth at most) can amount to an approx 2.5k increase in base price makes no sense.

With the AU dollar going upwards, i don't see how they can increase the RRP when they haven't value added to the base model.

It isn't a free upgrade as you are paying 2.5k more than the RRP for a MY10 car and you get no extra functionality or value.
(Note that the RRP for the MY10 base spec tiguan was $36,990)

I dont know where you getting your sources from mate, I have just rang VW to check up the delivery date of mine MY11 car. I also asked them if the prices had been increased for the whole ranges of the Tiguan from MY10 to MY11, the answer is NO, no price increase, Basically the DSG replaced the 6 Speed AUTO and a NEW steering wheel added for free, I say new because it have never been fitted to a Tiguan before, and it's **** load better looking and feel than the old one. I dont care they took it off a Gold MK VI and fitted to the Tiguan, I only care cause it a improvment and better than the old one.

My sources are the TV adverts for the MY10 and MY11 Tiguan base spec (manual 125TSI).
I would believe the tv advertised RRP prices over the word of a salesman who in most cases knew less about the car than i did.

The new steering wheel had to be added as the MK5 is no longer in production, thus the MY11 cars get the in production MK6 steering wheel.

I suspect you are mistaken the base price (which dont includes stamp duty and on road cost), as oppsite to the drive away price been adverstised of TV.
If I were to choice to believe between you and the car VW saleman for pricing, I will choice the Salemen any day.
Why dont you go and call your local VW dealer for pricing ?

Anyway, I veryone is entitle to their own opinion of their cars, So I will just let it at that.

Here Here everybody lets not get our nickers in a not know.
We are all on this forum because we have all bought, orderd or considering buying the Tiguan and would like to here about other peoples experiences, rides, mods, upgrades and any other problems and concerns people have . Lets not start acting like children with mine is better than yours syndrome and nit pick each others cars.
All models go through an upgrade every couple of years, and yes they are all ways going to make improvments to the car as small as some of these up grades can be.
Congratulations to all who have either bought or orded the new MY011 Tiguan and cant wait to here thoughts and experiences of your new car...

    ALL HAIL THE TIGUAN

I think Team_v was looking at the RRP without the on-roads, which is what would have been advertised on TV.

A quick writeup here on GoAuto, stating that prices are unchanged.

It is now by law illegal for any motor manufacturer to advertise anything other than drive-away pricing.

The current adds show from about $39K drive-away (base model 125TSI manual), which is an increase over the normal from $37K drive-away and a long way off the special drive-away-deals of $33990 ..... So somewhere an extra $2K slipped in, which has nothing to do with DSG v Tiptronic.

I don't believe the DSG is any better or in reality any faster than the Tiptronic. VW measure their 0-100 time from when the wheels start turning and not from when the signal is given to start moving. As is often debated in other threads, there is a lag before the DSG engages and this makes it slower than a manual most of the time. Only a fluffed change in a manual will result in a slower time than a DSG if launch control is not used.

Personally I'm warming to the DSGs and if the 147TSI DSG came with launch control, it would be the 1 I'd buy now over any other Tiguan, without launch control I'd stick to a manual.

The new 7spd 550NM DSG is the best DSG yet. I'f I were to ever buy another daily driver VW (other than the Concept Sport) it would be a DSG and be the then current version of a Golf R DSG.

And regardless of the MY of a Tiguan the boot space is still rubbish. In recent weeks I loaded the same load of luggage froma Tiguan into both a current Nissan X-Trail and a current RAV4 and they have at least double the amount of space available. If I was to buy a family small SUV again, it would not be a Tiguan for that very reason.
