Roof Rack Bike Carrier for Tiguan

Looking for some recommendations on a roof carrying system, anybody got one on their Tig?

I can only fit my daughters pushy in the boot so would need to carry up to 3 bikes on the roof if possible.

As the Tig already comes equipped with the roof rails will need something that utilises those i guess.

    Hi Prodigy,

We use Thule Cross Bars (attached to the existing Rails) with 3 Bike Carriers (the 2 on the outside facing forward and the one in the middle facing rearward) like these - Thule FreeRide 532 » Bike Carriers » Products » Thule Australia - they do the job, though if you're not reasonably tall it can be tough getting the bikes themselves on and off the roof due to the height of the Tig. Good luck!

I use Thule cross bars and Thule 591 proride bike holders, but I have realised three major drawbacks with the roof solution:
    1. Height, unless you play basketball for living, lifting a heavy bike to the middle of roof will require a tall step ladder.
    2. Again, height, sometimes you will underestimate how tall bikes really are on the top, and inevitably giving yourself a heart attack by crashing into a tree brach or low ceiling.
    3. Annoying wind noise and an increase in fuel consumption.

Yours being a MY11, you may consider installing a tow hitch and wiring yourself for under $200, see thread (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tch-59645.html).

Hmm, i'm far from tall so i guess there may be an issue getting the bikes on and off.

Will look further into the Hitch option.

    Thanks guys.
