replacement brake pads (help?!)

at a recent wheel alignment, tyre place noticed couple of my discs were scored and might need machining. Car has done 36K

Does anyone have any suggestions for AM pads (and/or rotors), as OEM through VW are on the exie side?

ECS has rotors and the EBC pads are apparently very good.
I believe there is a supplier of EBC pads on here (GSL RallySport)

Also VSI imports stock the parts for EU cars. They supply ATE brake parts at good price.

I'd definitely recommend EBC greenstuff pads. A lot less brake dust over stock and much better stopping power. You should be fine for rotors tho, they should just need a skim.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks there's excessive amounts of brake dust generated from these cars/pads. My alloys require constant cleaning to keep them well shined and not looking rather dusty!!

I wondered if using the "autohold" had anything to do with excessive brake dust?

No, it wont. It's not in operation for long enough to cause any noticable drag.

Also, FWIW don't machine rotors on a European car. The Europeans have different ideas on how they should wear, and believe that pads and rotors should be replaced together, as the rotors are made of a softer metal to maximise braking performance. If you machine them, you'll probably take enough off them to render them useless.

Sorry Umai but this is absolute rubbish! Any disc can be machined as long as it's above minimum thickness after the machining and no decrease in brake performance will result. Ask any of the specialist mechanics on this site and they'll tell you the same thing.
