What's insurable and what's legal are completely different. The insurance company probably didn't have a clue what it was. But yes water/meth injection is illegal on a road car (just like NOS). Any sort of artificial/additional fueling is a no no. Direct injection cars seem to love water/meth so no doubt there's quite a few getting around with stealth setup's.

Ramee's Tiguan Build Thread 155KW DSG

How accurate is that pbox? I had an Audi q5 with the APR ko4 upgrade and it didn't get into the 5's 0-100. I think guy sent his timing gear down when they tested it, not sure what it was though. Possibly tig is lighter I guess

Typically they are extremely accurate. I have a gtech, which is same principles, the variability comes from the set-up and without knowing the pbox, is dependent on the roll-out distance for these sort of measurements. i.e. the timer may engage once the car has moved 1ft, which doesn't sound like much but makes quite a difference in the overall time. For my timer at the drags, it's accuracy was dependent on where the car staged compared to the lights, that variability was a few tenths. Phone timers/GPS simply can't compare with the accuracy of 10hz timers for these activities.

As a lap timer, it's within hundredths of a second of official timers.

Those figures are pretty close to the G-Tech Pro SS figures I got testing 2 x manual Tiguans. APR Stg1 with zero mechanical sympathy got 5.7s and APR Stg2 with some (actually quite a bit more) mechanical sympathy got the same 5.7s 0-100.

Tiguans are only 1600kgs where I believe the Q5s are just over 1800kgs.

The weight would explain the difference, we couldn't get anywhere near the manufacturer claims stock either, but lost 2 secs 0-100 after conversion

What you "need" is an SQ5

Twin turbo 3.0 diesel 0-100 in 5.1sec but get this 650Nm torque!
