Oh no Tigger, I was struggling to upload my post and after I typed every thing and pictures attached I accidentally pressed the back button Then It said my post got too many pics and had to separate it in to two.

So I see you earned enough brownie points to get time to do your bumper grill mod ah.. it looks great and I may try that on my bumper too

Bugger!!! Don't you hate it when you've spent all that time for it not to save and you lose everything. I feel your pain.

So did you have to take your engine right out? Or were you able to remove/install the turbo in-situ?

Not that I'm considering it - if (and a big if) I ever went down the path of changing turbos I think I'd be getting someone else to do the job. Sounds like a fair few tools required.

Is there a bedding in period? Be interested in your first impressions and whether the pain vs gain is worth it.

I did not take the engine out. Just swapped the turbo while it is in the engine bay. There is enough room in engine bay to do it and there are few DIYs for GTI K04 install. So I followed them and it wasn't very hard. Anyone can do it but need lot of tools, time and patience

I think there is no bedding period for a turbo swap. Right after install there was bit of smoke coming out until all the oil residue burned out but this is normal. Then everything went back to normal.

First trial impressions are there is some more lag than K03. Not much but you can feel it. But acceleration is smooth/consistent and more ideal for daily commuting in traffic ( I feel more fine control of power in these conditions). This lag however is not when I cruising or moving in stop go traffic, it is when you really want to accelerate and about 3000 RPM you will feel that surge of torque pushing you back in to the seat. It is like two step process and up to 3000 RPM it is like stage 2 and after K04 power starts to come out.

DSG also acting like before(shifts weirdly time to time) but in D mode now it is hesitate to drop gears when I floor it. Before when I am in 6th gear and floor it, DSG dropped to 3rd gear but now it want to stay in 5th. I think this is due to high amount of torque and power generate by new turbo. So if you want to have real fun need to use sports mode.

Have you had the K04 tune done or still on stage 1 or 2 KO3 tune?

K04 tune is already in - he was driving it with the new time file with the old turbo on last week.

Have a look back a couple of pages: Ramee's Tiguan Build Thread 155KW DSG

Yeah I think MFSW first. But may get the DSG tune later too. If I want rapid power just put into sports like down shifting.

Will be interested to see what 0-100 times you get. Not sure about further upgrades on my Tig. Currently shaking my pink piggy bank to see if I can find enough pennies for the new Golf R.

Yeah, New Golf R would be nice! I went through the same thought process as you to find out the feasibility of the new R but I now have given up that idea after lot of consideration.

First thing would be (for me) Tig is a future proof vehicle. It got more space than Golfs and has the ability to tow things make it a suitable vehicle when family grows little bit. So space wise it will be fine for me for at least few more years.

Also performance wise golf R we are getting is slightly detuned and probably doing 0 - 100 in low 5 secs and moding/tuning it, would void the warranty as same as my current Tig. Also performance upgrades may not be available ASAP and may take many months to get all the bugs sorted out. So better wait two three years after they release the car and let others to find out most of the issues before I jump in.

Honestly for my eye Tigs looks better than golfs specially new MK7 version.

Last but not least my Tig is just one year old and selling it going to cost me a lot now and and I think best to wait three/four years before think about a change.

But all this is my thought process and could change or solidify when I met a Golf R mk7 in the future. By that time probably there could be many second hand A45 AMGs may be floating around too.
