Any update on the Haldex Ramee? Interested in your thoughts and whether it's a worthwhile investment.

Hi Tigger, Yes I am very happy with the new controller. It definitely makes car over-steer (well may be less under steer) and accelerations are super smooth. No clunks, jerks at all and even under launches ( no wheel slip chirps) . I think new controller could be a very good match for our increased power and torques. To me it is well worth the money. And considering you got other handling improvements are already on the car( sway bars, springs, ALF etc) I can only imagine what it could like to be.

Good to hear. Sounds like I'll have to put this one on my wish list...which is growing again

    Tig Communications

    Next mod arrived

UHF CB radio for Tig. We are getting ready for our annual holiday road trip and this time going to Cairns, Queensland. Three cars and these will use for inter car communication. Good thing with this particular model is to operate is in hands free manner with steering wheel mounted PTT and scan button unit. Still need to get a good antenna and installation could be bit of a challenge. But this is going to be fun

I expect to see a 25ft bullbar mounted antenna for this and also the obligatory super long drooping mudflaps.

How long is the trip going to be for?

Hahaha.. You will see.. But unfortunately no bullbar this time( could slow me down with weight :p ) We have no exact idea how long we will take could be 10 days to two weeks.

Also a rear skid plate is on order and a water injection kit to cool down the intake air. I thought of getting done my quad tip muffler before this trip but it is bit too late now.

Safe driving & have fun! I'm sure you will...

Keen to hear what sort of hit your fuel economy takes regarding the Haldex controller. Also wondering if the driving components to the rear wheels are made for constant work & if everything will 'go the distance'?

Ramee's Tiguan Build Thread 155KW DSG

This is where I bet you're wishing you bought the switchable controller... Been doing some research into this and for wear and tear plus heat generated you'd be wanting to switch it off for a long trip.

The AWD system in the Tig and Golf R etc is only meant to operate intermittently. It's really not designed for continuous use as it does get hot and doesn't have large heat sinks like some of the constant 4WD systems in Audi etc.

I think you should research little bit more into this and I told you it is not constant fourwheel drive. Yes it is used in the track and subjected to much harder conditions than freeway driving. Also you have stage 2 tune with high intake air temperatures and torques. So how many times did you go to stock mode after APR tune.
