    Rain Sensing Wipers

    Hi All,
I'm really happy with the way the rain sensing wipers work (part of the comfort package on my 125TSi), but I've noticed a small "quirk": If I park and turn off the car whilst in rain sensing mode, and then start it again (some time later), the rain sensing function doesn't seem to kick in again until I turn the wipers off, and then back into rain sensing.

Maybe I've just been impatient, but it has happened twice that I've been waiting for that initial wipe on driving off, and had to manually intervene to get the function started again. Anybody else noticed this?

    regards,
    John.

Yep! I normally just adjust the speed of the rain sensor to kickstart it again!

Small nuisance to put up with considering it gets rid of the no.1 nuisance on Sydney roads for me!

You know ... the persistent and/or deaf window cleaners at every traffic light who can't take "NO" for an answer.

Perhaps they should consider renaming or at least tagging this additional benefit in the brochures!

mine does the same, they do start up again, just take a few minutes to do it. Other problem is if you don't reset it yourself, the rear wiper won't wipe automatically when you go into reverse gear - unless the systems already reset itself.

I thought it had to do with the speed you were going, i.e. it kicks in at 40 clicks?

According to my salesperson the rain sensor detects increase in amount of water from the moment car starts. As such, if there were already rain when you turned the ignition key, you have to manually move the wiper once to let the sensor know the clean status before it starts working normally. I found this to be the case up to now.

It does kick ion once you're over about 20kph, but what I always do (as suggested by aussietig above) is just flick the sensitivity switch on the top of the right hand stalk and that fires them up immediately.

    Cheers
