Question Questions regarding 132TSI Tiguan servicing in Brisbane

    Hi all,

My mum recently bought a brand new 132TSI Tiguan and it's coming up to her first servicing date (less than 5000km travelled). The issue is that the place that she bought it from (Bryan Byrt VW) has closed down. She's wondering where to go get it serviced to still maintain the new car warranty? Does third party servicing 'void' the warranty? Or does she have to go to VW dealership to get her car serviced?

    Thanks,
    Brendan

She doesn't have to take it to VW, there's plenty of specialists that could do the job. Although it may be most convenient to do so.

Warranty cannot be refused if the correct fluids and parts are used.

Did she have an agreement with the dealer as far as servicing goes, I got a 6year $333 a year servicing with the dealer I bought through I don't know if its transferable to another dealer , you had better check her servicing agreement ?

I get mine done at Prestige and Peformance at Coorparoo and they have been flawless for me.

As Gav pointed out, Warranty cannot be refused if the correct fluids and parts are used.

There was a verbal agreement I'm pretty sure as she mentioned to me about 'cheaper' servicing than other VW dealerships if she took it to their workshop. I'll see if there were any written agreements regarding serving.

Cheers all for the advice, good to know that it's not locked to dealerships for warranties to be upheld

Okay I just popped over to my parents' place to check out the car. Apparently the car has only done 5000km and under 9 months old. It says 'Inspection in x days' rather than service. I've had a quick search and it turns out it's just a free courtesy check to make sure everything is in order. As mentioned previously, the dealership that it was bought from has now gone under. Can this be taken to any VW dealership for this 'free check up'? I don't want to bring it to an indepedant mechanic to look at this because it's not their job to do so (waste of time for them I'm guessing)

If it was for a "free" one it would be at about 1500km

The XXX days to service is for the normal 12 month(regardless of k's done)

My two have only done 20,000 in 4 years but have had the services done at yearly intervals. Passat has just had 60000k service at 24412k.

Just be aware it needs specific oils to retain warranty and lots of Non VW dont use them. As said above Prestige or Cricks at Springwood or Austral or Norris would be the flavour of choice.
